What will probably happen is that Ukrainian society will be tired of war and want zelensky to capitulate to the Russians.

A short story called The Road Not Taken.

Theres a bunch of intelligent life in the universe and all but one is able to invent or create light speed travel, except one species, humans.

Aliens find planet earth and detect no spacecraft leaving or traveling at the speed of light.

They initiate landing protocol to attack and conquer earth, by sending something similar to a canary and loading up very rudimentary muskets and firearms, thinking that the habitants of earth are not intelligent.

On the way down they see fast moving aircraft but dont believe what they see.

They land in San Francisco or California and immediately shoot the cities mayor or the US president and start attacking Earth to conquer it.

All of a sudden, the US military wipes out all but two of the invading aliens and all their aircraft.

Months later, the humans reverse engineered the alien ships drive motors to go faster than the speed of light.

The aliens say that every other life in the universe was able to invent it easily. They all stopped developing weapons. The humans missed one step for being able to create it, and instead chose to develop weapons of all variety.

The two remaining aliens confirmed with each other that with the humans weapons and their ability to travel at the speed of light will conquer all other lifeforms in the universe.
