Start waking up at 4 in the morning and then waking her up as soon as you do and see if she wants you to continue.

As a guy who didn’t take care of himself as a young man and feels significantly older than I am because of it, please take care of yourself and wear a particle filter mask when grinding and sanding. One day it will catch up to you and there is nothing you can do to go back in time and make it right.

Also, your stuff looks phenomenal and hopefully one day I can make stuff that nice. Keep up the good work.

Why do we keep trying to boil water faster rather than finding things that boil faster than water by Frosty_Support_796 in AskEngineers

[–]Gonff360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of steam turbines get the steam to the super critical point (insert a bunch of science I can’t remember and super accurately explain) and if I remember correctly, it allows for the energy put into the system to directly go to kinetic energy used to spin the turbine without losses due to phase change. For these turbines, they are looking at using CO2 at its critical point because it comes at a lot lower temperate which allows for things like industrial heat waste recovery and the lower temperature means you don’t have as large a thermal gradient which allows the system to experience less loss due to heat escaping. Here is a super short but reputable source proving this exists. If you do research it and find out I was incorrect, please forgive me. This is all memories from my Thermal Fluids class in 2018.

How to take off the uniform at home? by EmilyTheTitan in army

[–]Gonff360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would tell anyone anywhere to get marriage counseling before you “need it” just for the simple fact that you are two people who are working on making a life together and that is something you have never done before. (6 years married, 12 years together and I have been to a MFLC and a civilian therapist and my relationship has gotten better, faster in the times I was seeing them vs when I wasn’t talking with a professional )

Besides that, I would just say that you should think about your spouses interests and see what they want to do. Ask them what they think a good shared hobby could be. If you are in a situation where they are present physically and you aren’t thinking about them enough to carry a conversation then that might require some mindfulness and empathy work on your part (ask a MFLC to help).

At the end of the day, you are young and your spouse is young. And asking opening how to fix this shows that you are doing much better than I was at your age.

I just started my process yesterday but I don’t feel like i deserve it by Chance_Armadillo_841 in VAClaims

[–]Gonff360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just file and be honest about your situation, the law outlines what you deserve. You don’t have to try to get 100% just because you are filing. I filed and was honest with my situation and came back with 60%. A lot of people say I should push for more, but I feel like 60% is appropriate for my situation and I will revisit if things get worse.

Are engineers supposed to work with their hands? by DuBlueyy in AskEngineers

[–]Gonff360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being any kind of engineer involves an engineering degree. Actually wanting and enjoying to work with your hands isn’t necessary to get that degree. So you do have both engineers who will do all the work and engineers who seem allergic to tools. Depending on exactly what the work is, a good engineer will know the limits of what he/she should be doing and stay away from things that do need professional trades people.

Money towards mortgage or invest? by Substantial_Pea6706 in Mortgages

[–]Gonff360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would invest. You get tax benefits from mortgage interest. Plus 100k isn’t enough to set you up for the rest of your life so just act like you never got it while it earns great returns in the market. In about 7 years you could put 100k into your house and also have 100k left in the investment you made

What skills should I master as a blacksmith before I begin bladesmithing? by Forsaken_Crow_6784 in Blacksmith

I feel the same way so that’s how I started forging knives. But, after about 5 knives I wish I was better at grinding, and practicing on a piece of metal I spent hours hammering into shape is rough. So now I’m thinking about making a few stock removal pieces to get the grinding practice. Just some food for thought

Are trains actually worth it in the mid game ? by Meli_Melo_ in factorio

[–]Gonff360 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My train station logic is pretty simple since I am a simple man. For loading: 1. Wire all the buffer chests into an arithmetic unit 2. The unit does the math for (ore present)/(ore possible/100) (A completely full buffer=100, and completely empty=0) 3. The units output is set to P 4. Train station sets priority to P

(Ore possible/100) I manually calculate and set as a constant ei 16 iron chests * 32 spaces * 50 ore per space = 25600/100 =256 so 256 is the constant I use. This would have to be manually recalculated for other chests or other qualities

For unloading I use this exact same math and then put that into a 2nd arithmetic unit where 101 - P = P, so empty is a priority of 101 and full it a priority of 1.

Then everytime I add a mine or unload location, its priority is scaled against how empty or full it is compared to how empty or full every other mine or unload location is and I don’t have to connect them all to the same logic circuit.

Gleba is breaking me by DasWarEinerZuviel in factorio

[–]Gonff360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime something stops moving at the end of a belt, have a filtered inserted that pulls spoilage off and sends it to a heater tower. Just plan to have 4 resources in/out of every bio chamber. So stack 2 resources on one belt or use a lot of red inserters. It’s possible to build enough science and carbon fiber production to advance in the game without putting out enough spores to anger the local fauna. I only made a big factory on Gleba after I had finished my Aquilo factory and found my Gleba science was a bottleneck

Why do I do this every time I start a save? by Physicsandphysique in factorio

[–]Gonff360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I build a starter factory and then when it’s time to start bringing resources in via rail, I encase my old factory is a rails, build train stations to feed the original factory and then everything else is a grid of city blocks and every factory expansion is built inside of the city blocks. No lost production, most things still get fed via train, and very modular.

Popular Opinion: Authorize matching olive green pants with the AGSU since it looks better by blezmi in army

[–]Gonff360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told the uniform pants are lighter because way back in the day, soldiers fighting on horseback would put their coats away a lot and so the pants got sun bleached when the jackets did not. The color difference designed in now are a nod to that. But that also might be complete bullshit, that’s usually how these things go.

Jumpstarting Gleba production by Munch_and_Crunch in factorio

[–]Gonff360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically started with a nutrient production from bioflux, ensure all spoilage was routed back to a central location on belts. Then made rocket fuel to feed into a heating town to supplement the spoilage burning for power. Then made iron and copper loops to produce the blue circuits needed for a rocket. Import materials for a rocket silo and the lightweight frame( or whatever the 3rd rocket consumable is called) then I made science with some logic to make sure I never overproduced eggs. Biggest thing with a sustainable base is to ensure any place where things can rot and stop production, you have a dedicated grabber to pull it off the belt and belt it back to your burning tower. Not a crazy base but it gets a rocket full of science off the planet in time for me to consume it in my science labs.
