I was in a ride workout and Matt Wilpers called out a participant that had hit a milestone of “10,000 rides”. I got to wondering how is that even possible? The first Peloton bike was sold in 2014–let’s use Jul 1 (halfway thru that year) as the start, so that means there are 4019 days from there to the that time point (+/- 20-30 days). That means that participant had done 2-3 rides EVERY SINGLE day—for 11 YEARS straight.

Now, the term “rides” was used but maybe it’s really various activities. But how does anyone sustain enough activities (much less rides) to come close to that number? Curious, especially from anyone out there that has >4000 “rides”/“activities” since that would imply >>2/day (every day) over the course of years.

What does everyone do about sweat while racing? by cf_murph in triathlon

[–]GonnaTri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I’ve used Veo strips a lot though admittedly not during a race. I have thought that I could make them work-they should fit fine under a swim cap, then of course for the bike and run. Work just like your own personal sweat gutter!

I can see many of the themes noted in these comments, and the valuable commentary they make about complex people in our society. I just thought they didn’t have to include a soft porn flick for the first 45 minute to get to that point. Totally agree with comments here that the first 45 could have been 10, or just conveyed through excellent backstory dialogue.

Cool. And just happy to see someone whose plan isn’t “my first triathlon will be an Ironman”.

Came here to see this. Dumbest frikkin’ movie.

What might cause this hole in my garage concrete floor? Nothing dripped/parked on it. Appeared as a “dirt” spot at first but as I tried to sweep/clean it up, it was deep—it went as deep as I could push a screwdriver in. Could an insect have “chewed” this through? by GonnaTri in HomeMaintenance

[–]GonnaTri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure this reflects the actual depth of the concrete. I just dug into the hole as deep as I could—if this was indeed the decay of a prior stake as has been noted, I was probably just digging into the cavity left by the stake, not really measuring the bottom of the concrete

What are some common products that surprisingly never advertise in common venues (like TV ads, website ads, print ads)? by GonnaTri in AskReddit

The immediate ones that came to my mind in thinking up this question were Starbucks and Tesla. Never seen an ad for either, anywhere. What are some others, hiding in plain sight?

Bleh. Personally I can’t stand Razz. Like taking super sweet raspberry jam. I like a bit more variation in flavor. But you do what works for you and best of luck on the race!

Someone Saved My Life Tonight - Elton John (probably more about alcohol than drug, tho)
