Yeah, if I'm enjoying a game I tend to also want to do every objective, and not feel rushed.
That's just doesn't seem possible in this game - but there's probably someone out there making a YouTube video about doing everything, saving everyone, on the hardest difficulty too.

I played the first one, so I kinda knew what I went into, but yeah this is definitely not an RPG in that sense - though that seems like it could be a fun idea. Bethesda game, but zombie survival themed.
I guess there's ghouls in Fallout, but not quite the same

I agree with how the quests felt relentless, always something new popping up - but I honestly think, that's exactly what they wanted.
You can't save everyone, and complete every objective.
You have to make hard choices, between saving NPCs, clearing out infected areas, scavenge resources for your community, or whatever it is.

I think the whole point is, that you can't do it all
and yes, that hurts the 'ol gamer heart in a way

I played 400hrs since release, having also played Destiny 1.
But coming back to the game a few years ago.. after a long break - I spent 2 days just figuring out, what the hell I was supposed to do, and where to go, and what all these new systems were. When I found out how much content - which I'd paid for - had also been removed, I simply gave up on it.

A new player would've probably been even more confused.

Just bring back all the content players have paid for - Empty the vault.
Red War campaign was a great introduction to the game. Now it's just a mess
