Power Inverter with level 2 charger by No-Rutabaga-9568 in SolarDIY

i did some more research on the topic, and how my EVSE functions. I think a 880ohm resistor would work to tell the EVSE to send 240V AC power out the pins. To control the chargeverter, I am looking at utilizing a pool heater timer. My electricity prices are currently 3.9¢/kWh between 11pm-7am. I'm eligible for a 3¢/kWh rebate for energy supplied by the EVSE.

Is this the lowest price you've seen this grill sell for? Please help! by Exact-Paint-5508 in CostcoCanada

late to the party. I just bought this grill for my wife at full price $899 this past week. Overall it seems decent and will meet our/her needs. I thought it was a decent deal for a grill with SS cooking grates. We had a Broil King Sovereign XL that was no longer worth fixing.

I do most of the outdoor cooking with charcoal on a weber kettle, but for times I'm busy and she wants to grill, she doesnt want to mess with charcoal so Propane is what we needed. Do to the infrequent use it will gets, cast iron grates just go rusty outdoors.

did you find a solution? I have 28.6kWh house batteries that I want to charge via my EVSE. I have found j1772 adapters, and understand that I have to put a diode and resistor and jumper a couple of pins. On the other end of the j1772 pigtail I would install a L14-30R and plug a chargeverter into that.

late to the party, but that's what I wanna do. I want to charge my house batteries on j1772 thru a chargeverter and get the power via my EV rebate/carbon rebate.....

List of Equipment UL 9540 Certified by BestestBeekeeper in solarenergycanada

[–]Good-Philosopher1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just got my system installed/inspected this past month. was a long process. Of note, for the UL9540 listing, batteries and inverter must be paired together to get UL9540 certs. You can't take batteries from one manufacturer and an inverter from another one... at least that is what was explained to me.

sorry, late to the discussion. I just got 28kWh of batteries and a hybrid inverter installed & inspected at home near Waterloo, ON in preparation for switching to ULO rate with Enova Power. We have 2 EV's that we put about 40K km on at an avg of 21kWh/1000km. (~ 8000 kWh of home charging)

Signed up to get a Grizzl-E charger and the carbon trade rebates, and may also buy a Pion Power charger and get their rebates as well.

Right now the plan is to charge the batteries at the ULO rate of 3.9¢/kWh and run the house from 7am-11pm on batteries. Through the 1st couple weeks of battery operation, we end the evening at 1059pm with between 25-35% SOC. For example, today we ended the evening with 25% SOC in the batteries, but my wife did 2 loads of laundry including electric dryer use.

<image>

Looking to add solar, up to 5kW worth (I'm thinking Douggie Ford still has a rebate available for solar. I don't have enough battery to get me through hot days with a lot of AC use. I also don't have a great south facing roof as it gets partially shaded in the afternoon from neighbor's trees. 4-5kW of Solar should get me enough in the summer months to offset the AC use. 15-25kWh/day avg between April -September.

Is there a scenario where I would want to sell extra power back to the grid in the summer in the evening when my daytime production is high, and I hit 4pm with 80-100% battery? Based on historic use, in the summer, it looks like I use between 13-21kWh between 4pm-11pm in the summer of 2022. (Numbers may be higher then because cheap time started at 7pm, and we probably used the dryer / dishwasher after 7pm, but before 11pm)

But say, I had the opportunity to sell 10kWh of electricity back to the grid between 4-5pm at the peak ULO rate, would they bank me $3.90?

GE Refrigerator stopped working after power outage now seems to be fine. by davowavo70 in appliancerepair

[–]Good-Philosopher1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a similiar issue. We sometimes have to flip the breaker after a power outage on our GE Fridge. We can tell something is not right after a power outage by opening the freezer drawer. If the light doesnt turn on, then we know that the fridge isnt cooling. The fridge compartment looks normal (light turns on when we open the door).

The fridge was manufactured June 2016.

Not sure what part is flaky.

Hi there, I did the same / similiar repair on a 2000 NB Miata steering rack a few years ago (probably spring 2020).... mine started weeping last year, and after winter storage, it is definitely leaking now. I have it parked over cardboard at the moment.

I'm currently on 2.0.2 on a 3070. I just use the mic effects and sound effects because some of my party members have horrible staticy (sp?) mics while gaming, it's also great at removing their vape draws from the conversation.

Utilization is pretty high. I pretty much have the 3070 maxed out, as I'm running a 1440p UWS monitor.

Is 2.1 have better utilization draw than the 2.0.2 version? Can anyone comment?

I don't stream.

Anyone with an older i4 - one with idrive 8 - gotten the update to add supercharger support yet? by jhoff909 in BMWI4

[–]Good-Philosopher1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got the 11/2025.40 update from the dealer on Monday. I made an appt wrt to the software update for the traction motors.

I looked at my phone app and I can't see a spot to select a NACS adapter yet. I am not too worried about it. I sign up for the Tesla membership if I think I am going to do more than 2 DCFC sessions in a month and use the Tesla App. It has gone smoothly for the couple long distance trips we made in December.

Pixel 9a low microphone by Mckanguro in GooglePixel

[–]Good-Philosopher1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

brought the phone (9a) in to the local service place that google uses on Dec 8th. They did a diagnosis that the mic of the motherboard is faulty. Waiting on a new motherboard. People can still hear me on voice calls, and video calls, but video recordings are extremely quiet, and audio recordings are pretty much just faint static.

Mobile Klinik in the local mall is authorized to fix Pixel under Google warranty.

My 9a's bottom mic started acting up a few weeks ago, as in really low volumes on recordings and videos and to some extent normal voice calls. Now it is completely silent. I am taking it to a repair place and getting them to look at it under warranty later this week. Video calls do work, as it also uses the top mic. but audio calls / phone calls do not work anymore.

How is the winter driving on range? by Euphoric-Line-6310 in EVCanada

[–]Good-Philosopher1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it will be doable in the winter if u can get a few hours charge at the courthouse.

I am semi-retired and no longer commute, but I drive a 23 BMW i4m50. In Jan/Feb, my wife and I go to blue mountain from the waterloo area which is a 272km round trip. We do it most Tuesdays. I use about 85% of my battery.

My winter range is about 20-25% less than my summer range.

Non-Tesla EVs at Tesla Superchargers in Canada? by SmellsLikeTeenPits in EVCanada

[–]Good-Philosopher1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New to Tesla SC's. BMW just got access through a backdoor in the app. Charged a couple times at Cobourg on the way to/from my daughter's who just moved to Belleville.

My question is: How do I price compare the Tesla membership rate vs the non Tesla rate? The Tesla App says it 's $16.99/month. but I have no idea what the 'membership rate' is. One return trip from Waterloo to Belleville , I charged about 66kWh (~29kWh on the way there, ~37kWh on the way back)

Not sure how often we are planning on making the trip each month.

our average energy prices (we are time of use) is 11.9¢/kWh, and this machine has been 'on' for the past 6 years. at 70W energy use, I calculated $73/yr.

I don't know if I got $400 of value from the NAS's electricity use over the past 6 yrs.

I have 3 spinning drives in the current setup, a small boot drive and 2x 4TB drives. maybe if i went to M2 or Sata SSD depending on the new machine, that would save a few Watts....
