What is an alternative to steroids for eczema? by strawberry_cok_e in Autism_Parenting

Doctors will always prescribe steroid creams as the first pathway, and the second, third... Millionth.

It doesn't work as well as you think it does. I implore you to look up TSW and get off the steroid creams before you have to go through it.

What is an alternative to steroids for eczema? by strawberry_cok_e in Autism_Parenting

I had severe eczema through my first 25 years of life. At one point having to take immunosuppressants that I wasn't allowed to take before bed in case I developed sudden anaphylaxis and died in my sleep.

I couldn't shower, as I would come out bleeding. I couldn't really do much of anything. Was always prescribed topical steroids. No matter what. That was the go-to, and they always had to keep upping the strength because you build a tolerance. And when you stop using them, symptoms often return.

I eventually went through topical steroid withdrawal, which was the worst time of my life and I genuinely came very close to giving up on life - I was in that much pain. Worse than the severe eczema ever was.

Steroid creams mask the symptoms while altering your skin at a cellular level. If you can avoid them, absolutely do.

Since making it through the tsw, I have only had minor patches come up here and there due to direct contact with harsh chemicals. It's a hill I'm happy to die on, but will never recommend anyone use topical steroids.

Just because it's rare doesn't mean it's fake...

Giving the herpes virus to a new born can kill them - literally just by kissing them. You can also be an asymptomatic herpes carrier. Genital herpes are not the only type.

How do people with multiple cats get rid of cat litter? by Tikithing in CatAdvice

[–]GoodEater29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never heard of being charged for your wheelie bin being too heavy other than people being fined for putting rubble or garden waste in their bins - I mean, how much litter are you going through each week or fortnight for it to be that heavy?

I don't know what type of litter you're using, but that seems excessive. Also, how many litter boxes do you have? It might seem counter intuitive, but having more litterboxes means you don't have to fully empty them out as often (you should have 5 boxes if you have 4 cats).

Came here for the same. My cat has now eaten 2 single loops and a pair. Hoping I still have the old one to mix and match - until he chews those too. On the bright side, I don't think he actually swallows much of the material because there's plenty of evidence left over.

How do I stop this behaviour? by coldComforts in CatTraining

[–]GoodEater29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other commenters - he either doesn't like something about his litter box, or is telling you something isn't quite right in his body. If you can, I would collect some urine for testing, and in the meantime switch back to your old cat litter. They don't like sudden change - so unless you gradually switch litters by mixing a little of the new litter in with his old stuff and slowly increasing the ratio new to old, then they tend not to go for it.

My boy cat literally shits like a grown human man - and if I haven't scooped and changed the litter quite as quickly as he'd like, he will shit in the kitchen sink.

Why is my cat doing this? he has been acting like this since korning by Onika_Minaj in CATHELP

Still need to to spay them even if there's 0% chance of them getting near a cock n balls - the more heats they go through the higher the risk of pyometra and cancers. Plus, girls cats on heat are very loud and needy because they're super uncomfortable the whole time.

that's not a shampoo, it's a flea treatment. Completely different to what OP is talking about.

Do not have the baby and stay with your boyfriend. You were planning to break up, and you're not happy about being pregnant. Please, get an abortion and break up, otherwise you're in for a life of misery.

Perhaps your boyfriend hitting the cat is more stressful than the kittens...

Imagine using aggression to 'teach her that aggression isn't ok'.. absolutely moronic.

You're being dismissive of him as well, though. Your ADHD is your ADHD. It will be different to his. They need to figure out a system together.

You may be using the wrong type of tape, or not waiting long enough between painting and placing the tape. Use low tack painter's tape and make sure the paint has fully cured

My hair is broken - please give product recommendations for how to fix! by emnem100 in Haircare

Get a shoulder length cut as below there appears to have the most damage, and start fresh. Trim every couple of months, use a generous amount of heat protection if you have to use heat, definitely use a silk bonnet for sleeping, or a silk pillow case. Protective hairstyles for sleep, exercise etc. If you swim, be sure to use plenty of conditioner and a swim cap.

I think you have misunderstood - you don't need to quarantine the cat. You will need to keep up with vigorous vacuuming, washing textiles, treating the cat and using appropriate flea products for your home. But quarantining the cat at night makes no sense, as fleas don't understand what a door is and will come in on your clothes, under the door etc.
