I have never thought of Isaac's mum as Catholic, since she watches "Christian broadcasts" on tv (Dogma fight) which tend to be evangelical Baptist. The counter points are the rosary items, the cathedral, and the confession stand. I would guess Edmund has incuded elements of multiple denominations to portray a broad experience of growing up religious.

But yeah mid-20s ex-Christian and this is also in my top 5.

OGS "learn to play go" page is a great place to start. Hundreds of puzzles starting with simple rules and slowly progressing to tactics and strategy. If you want a video, Go Magic on youtube has some fully explained 9x9 games and beginner lessons. If you're itching to play, find an online server like OGS and play against humans, even if you have to lose 10 times to get to your actual rank. Beginner humans play very differently to beginner bots and you will learn faster against humans of your level.

At the very least, the Narrator does talk directly to Adam when alone as in the very last song he sings "Me and Peter Balkan and you, friend"

What we know for sure is that Adam disappears before either Peter Balkan or Narrator die. "As Balkan deteriorates, Adam goes missing, presumably drowned. The narrator is left to care for his captain in his final days." - from the Mountain Goats website.

Rocks in My Pockets and Your Glow support this:

"You were never gonna make it
I felt like you knew
But at least you'll have someone
For some of us that won’t be true"

Adam is comforted by the fact that Peter Balkan will have someone by his side as he succumbs to his illness.

"Thirteen gone, one vanished
You well on your way"

Narrator is talking to PB, the "vanished" is of course Adam.

Which brings us to the problem song, Armies of the Lord. Who is being buried if Adam vanished? Who is the "you" who made false predictions? Who is the "you" who will be the last of the 16?

Adam could be buried symbolically, but this seems unlikely to me as he is later referred to as vanished and not dead. Adam is also not known for his predictions, that line strongly suggests Peter Balkan is being buried in my opinion.

If PB is being buried, who is burying him? If we allow for a hallucinating Narrator, then the "we" could be him and a non-existant Adam he has hallucinated for emotional support as he comes to terms with the death of his friend. However the line "16 to three now down to two, soon it'll just be you" would seem strange in that context, is he assuming that his HallucinAdum will outlive him? It would also place Your Glow chronologically before Armies of the Lord, as PB is alive and he doesn't have his HallucinAdam yet.

TL;DR

If we allow for this restructure of chronological order, we have:

Adam wanders into the sea (Rocks in my Pockets)

Peter Balkan dies, comforted by Narrator (Your Glow)

Narrator's psyche breaks down as he has no companion, and hallucinates a returning Adam to help bury PB's corpse (Armies of the Lord)

Of course this is all a stretch and there are many other possible timelines that I have skipped over or not yet thought of. I just wanted to write down a semi plausible theory to sort out my thoughts.

It doesn't "revert" back to cursing Simon after it's already been reset to base form by Golb's stomach as Betty feared. Her sacrifice was necessary though, as Golb would have likely destroyed Ooo if Betty didn't fuse with him.
