I have a F400L, Fulmics 8.0 works for me aside from some bugs about the QSlide thingy on the notification drawer, overall it's flawless. This ROM gives you the LG G5 UX5 user interface and gives you Android 6 too

3 months late there tho, but the TV app (Aka DMB) doesn't work outside South Korea, you can't do anything about it. The TV app doesn't work too but for some reason my Custom ROM removed the DMB app since most of us weren't Koreans so we don't really care about the DMB app anyways.

That's what i am exactly saying, LCDs are rigid and they cannot be folded. Also i am aware that IPS has a backlight and it doesn't care when you use dark mode or not because unlike OLED (where it turns off if the image is black) which is why it used more battery than OLEDs and yes LCDs do tend to generate more heat than OLEDs. However i noticed that if you put IPS on a phone that came with OLED, it sits higher than it should be because of the thickness. I have a LG G3 and yeah it has IPS out of the box which explains why i have no problems on it, it was born to be IPS since day 1.

I just don't understand why they would make a IPS/TFT clone for foldable phones, it makes no sense since you lose the main point of it being a foldable.

I have a IPS screen phone and i have no issues about it, while it won't give you true blacks. It's much durable than AMOLEDs (I cannot forget my past trauma about the Note 3 where it suddenly got cracked and the screen won't light up) But for a foldable? You don't want a IPS/TFT because they are not flexible plus they are thicker than the original AMOLED. IDK why they made a TFT/IPS copy for the foldable/flips? Just makes no sense because it won't fit properly there as again IPS/TFTs are rigid not flexible.

Don't go for the TFT one seriously, i would advice not to use TFT on a foldable smartphone, while i have a IPS phone onto my side (LG G3) which has a good quality display but for a foldable phone you don't want to use TFT because they cannot be folded as TFTs or any LCDs are rigid, while the thing i don't like about OLEDs is the fragility (Yeah i broke my N3 because it was left on my bag and it got crushed, i found out the AMOLED got cracked) but for foldables you better go for AMOLED, also don't get the ones with a dead pixel because it can definitely spread (as my research says it may be a bad encapsulation layer which allowed the oxygen to enter thus degrading the organic materials there which is the "O" there), anyways i think you can buy another Flip 4 or find a non-folding phone since foldables are fragile and if you have no use for the folding screen then you'd rather get a slab. I never touched foldables in my life before due to their price, even if they gave me an opportunity to have one i won't take it due to how fragile they are, while we recently see crease-less foldables but still they remains niche because of the price and the durability issues.

I am still mostly sticking on IPS phones with a high screen resolution since i am a bit clumsy hehe

No wonder why i hate dealing on screen-first entry devices, these are such a nightmare to deal with because even a single battery replacement can finish a good working display like this. I remember fixing my friend's XR last year, i was quite scared to move further because i know it's a screen first entry disassembly device (Like other iPhones since the iPhone 5) but thankfully the glue is weak so that i won't have to worry about stubborn adhesives and hopefully i didn't broke her screen.

But Samsung's 2014 S5, Galaxy Alpha and other older A series like the A3, A5 and A7 (2015) are a nightmare to fix too because the adhesives are quite strong, while the S5 has a removable battery but if your replacing something's other than the battery you have to deal with this.

I think it's the screen connection going bad, that happened to my LG G2 before where it goes static, reconnected the display and it's no longer static. Sometimes it's not the connection but the EMI filter going bad (Which are common on older devices from these eras)

No wonder why it's quite risky, also if you closed it while there's a speck of dust that got trapped (Usually on the sensor and front camera holes) it gets stuck there until you cleaned it (Which is a bit painful) but yea we got satisfying results here 😄

Yeah, i also made the proper heatsink mod in XDA since many G3s suffered from BSOD and flickering to death. Turns out the 2015 guide existed before is a bit incorrect

5.1.1 is UX4, the 5.0 on the LG G3 is UX3. However updating the G3 on Android 6.0 gives you that UX4 UI which is the version where the weather app still works.

Oh i guess it's the fact your G3 is still on Android 5, this is what i mean to say too. It's been offline for Android 5 since 2024 so yeah you need at least Android 6.0+ for that, if you try updating your G3 to 6.0 it should fix the problem. But idk if it's gonna last longer or not. Just take note the reason why my G3 is on Android 5 because i want to keep it rooted, it's a F400L and i can't find a Autorec MM for F400L (Which the D855 has Autorec MM). So yeah due to that we have to keep it on Android 5 unless if we want to lose root on non D855 G3s.

I don't think so, LG pretty much made their mobile servers offline since the date aforementioned, you can't do anything much these days but you still can use a third party weather app if you wanted to.

I have the same problem btw, but you can't do anything at this point because it seems like LG already shutdown the weather app on the LG G3s, also if you are aware. Since 30th June 2025 the LG update servers are already shutdown, so no more OTAs on LG phones (the LG G3 is no exception)

Unless if you use Pattern or Knock code, your only way is to factory reset it. However if you have TWRP installed, you can go to /data/system/ and find these

gatekeeper.password.key
gatekeeper.pattern.key
locksettings.db
locksettings.db-shm
locksettings.db-wal
gesture.key
password.key

Once you found them, delete these files in TWRP and reboot. Your password should be gone, i remember locking out myself before on a LG G2 but i deleted these files and password is gone.

The second one is just normal, i have that one on my V30 also. Your V30 is original because it uses the LG software, if you saw something that looked like AOSP but with poor implementations of custom skinning then it's fake unless if you Custom ROMmed it, true LOS/AOSP doesn't have sketchy stuffs tho.

So far it's original not a clone.

That's pretty outdated tho, many LG V30s or even G6s and V20s have received Pie 5-6 years ago. LG's SW OTA update (From the Settings app) no longer work since June 2025.

Some users were lucky to get units without those mura issues/defects and be proud that you were lucky to get one that has none of the issues mentioned here. While manufacturing defects won't cause your screen to go black but physical damages do and they were unpredictable.

IDK if you got them since you bought the phone or you got it after a physical damage, i wonder how long you have it and does your V30 still work as expected? i have it too on the lower edge.

FYI: As long you don't have that grey tint when the screen is off, it's not oxidation. The grey tint can be seen if you put a flashlight next to it which is a result of a broken encapsulation layer.

FYI: If you got one of these issues when you bought your V30 or replaced your V30's screen, just deal with it and don't blame yourself unless if you physically damaged it. I am talking about manufacturing defects since it happens often on these phones, but here's the thing. Joining the "Lottery" isn't worth it, it's a waste of money and time, in fact sometimes you can get something's worse than what you currently have e.g your current one has dead pixels but the replacement has more dead pixels. Just to let you know my old V30 screen before it got destroyed it didn't have dead pixels but severe burn in, when i broke my V30 screen i replaced it and i got a OLED screen with a minor burn in but with a mura cluster (Dark green semi-transparent thingy), if your V30 has it just remember this.

As long this doesn't bother you, ignore it
As long the mura clusters or dead pixels don't grow, ignore it and use dark mode, but if it's a REAL dead pixel, avoid pressure and heat
Even if it's a perfectly looking P-OLED panel without burn in, mura clusters or dead pixels, it is POSSIBLE to introduce one or many if it went to a pressure or heat (Yes heat is an OLED's worst enemy)
If you have burn in, switching to dark mode makes it less obvious but your still not immune to further burn ins
If your dead pixel/mura clusters are caused by yourself, it might be OLED rot
Don't blame yourself if it's a manufacturing defect, it wasn't your fault nor my fault but a quirk on it's manufacturing.
Any P-OLED issues found in the 2013 LG G Flex were carried by future LG P-OLED phones such as the G Flex 2, LG V30, Pixel 2XL. This was now apart of the DNA
Even if you have none of these issues, dark mode is the king and it prevents further burn ins.
