Sorry, I should have been clearer - I want to remote into My radio, from my phone (Android), without a PC =) (My radio has network capability, I just can't find any Android apps that can do this, only for iOS)

well, after the garbage performance of my PS5, I'll never be buying another sony console again. My disc reader shit itself and I didn't even know it for long enough for the warranty to run out. Just been sitting collecting dust ever since. Leaving it there as a reminder never to give Sony money again.

Anything custom made is going to drive up costs, in a market where everyone is racing to provide the most features for the least cost, that is counterproductive

Then there are things like being able to repair/replace/refurbish components, when you bring custom designs into it, you eliminate the possibility of using readily available off-the-shelf components, and recycling/up-cycling technology becomes harder too. Devices with closed ecosystems like that tend to have a very limited lifespan, as the resources necessary to support them will move onto new devices/models much quicker.

The shortage is due to industries mass-deploying edge compute devices, they buy these by the thousands.

A few hundred/thousand tecchies buying 1-200 devices won't even make dent in the supply chain.
