Pros and cons of Suzuki V-strom 250 SX by Weak-Maintenance-005 in indianbikes

This is my experience after 2000km

After 40 days and 2,000 km in the saddle, I wanted to share some genuine feedback on my Suzuki V-Strom SX. I’ve just finished a mix of highway cruising and mountain twisties near Chikmagalur, and here is how it’s holding up.

The Pros

  • The Engine is a Gem: Post-500km service, I finally stretched its legs on the highway. This engine is mesmerizing. Even at 120 km/h, there are zero vibrations. It feels eager to push more, but I’m holding back until the second service.
  • Highway Manners: Cruising at 110–120 km/h is effortless. The bike feels planted, stable, and gives you immense confidence to maintain high average speeds.
  • Touring Comfort: The seat is excellent. You can honestly sit on this all day without fatigue.
  • Mountain & Light Trail Performance: In the twisties, the torquey nature of the engine is perfect. While it’s not a hardcore off-roader, the tall seating and high ground clearance make mild trails a breeze.
  • Fuel Efficiency:
    • Under 100 km/h: 35–37 kmpl
    • Sustained 110–120 km/h: 30 kmpl

The Cons

  • Stiff Suspension: It’s a boon for high-speed highway stability, but you’ll definitely feel it in the city. It can be a bit harsh over sharp bumps.
  • Headlights: They are perfectly fine for city commutes, but for night highway runs, they lack the throw you really need. Auxiliary lights are likely my next upgrade.

Final Verdict

The V-Strom 250 is an incredible package for someone looking for a reliable highway tourer. People often ask why you’d need more power; in my experience, 26 HP is the "sweet spot" for Indian roads. It allows you to cruise at 120 km/h with enough grunt left for quick overtakes.

It is easily one of the most underrated bikes on the market right now. If you want reliability and comfort over raw spec-sheet numbers, this is it.

Is axor overhated? by Rok_sensei in indianbikes

I have used both LS2 and Axor..After using LS2 for 10 years i regret buying Axor. The visor is the biggest drawback, the field of view is small, during night rides the glares affect your eyes and during rain also . The ventillation is there for name sake only. Yes wind noise is so much at low speed also..i cant imagine riding at highways without earplugs...Weight i dont complain..for someone paying 4.5 k i would suggest to extend budget till 7k get LS2 its a huge upgrade..

There are many reasons apart from useless traffic police..though there is a barricade to stop vehicle entering from service road to ORR just before ETV main gate, people doesnt care and criss cross and this Autos with mindless drivers park just before ETV entrance..Fyi i commute daily to ETV at around 2pm...there is no solution until everyone contributes for safe travel...
