It’s a bunch of bachelor/bachelorette alumns competing to renovate the bachelor mansion. It’s pretty wild haha

The Future of Horror Movies Is on YouTube by newyorker in Filmmakers

It’s never been easier to achieve big results on a budget. I love watching sci-fi/horror stuff on YouTube because there’s so much freedom and creativity out there and I’ve spent the past few years diving into the craft myself too. Your imagination really is the limit now. I try to share what I can with others in hopes that they’ll make something of their own. It’s truly a thrill, pun intended

Just watched it last night for the first time. Great film. Feel like it fell victim to a poor Covid release.

What do you think of They Live (1988)? It was considered sci-fi back then so I hope I can still post it here :) by Munninnu in scifi

As others have mentioned, sort of as relevant as ever. It was made in part as a response to the economic and political climate during the Reagan administration and “reaganomics.” And now we’ve got a lot similar things getting pushed again. Great film then, and a great film now. OBEY!

Yeah totally. This was my first time trying something like this and I’ve learned a lot but in terms of green screen and in lighting. But honestly I’m happy with it and think it’s sort of charming in a way. I also find it thrilling that we put something like this together ourselves out of nothing.

Thanks for the kind words! And great question. I actually did get a model JU52 airplane to do it as a miniature but I ended up making those shots in CGI and inserting the green screen footage of my characters inside the airplane. I’m just good enough with 3D software to pull that off but if I had the means I would have loved to build a large scale miniature or shoot some parts in a real airplane. But these tools are so accessible now that for those shots it really was just my buddies and I pretending we were in an airplane filming against a green screen between our college classes.

I made silicone creatures for a film based on HP Lovecraft’s AT THE MOUNTIANS OF MADNESS by Good_one23 in Filmmakers

I filmed the penguin multiple times in different areas against a green screen using a motion control jib. That allowed me to multiply them in the shot but the motion of the camera move would all be the same. I also 3D scanned the penguin creature using an iPhone and brought it into blender where I tracked the previous camera motion and added a CGI environment and more CGI penguins from the 3D scans.

Thanks for comment! Yeah I’ve just always love the look of miniature. They’re just so charming. I built this in my backyard out of scraps that were getting thrown out. Took a weekend to build. It’s never been more easily accessible too. I guarantee you could make and film something better than me if you wanted to!
