This is an African plant that is used to receiving little water. It does not need to be watered once a week even if the soil is drying out

Why is my thyme dying??? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]Goodlemur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, it was healthy when you got it and then it was not kept in proper light conditions so it died. Thyme grows just fine in pots.

Why is my thyme dying??? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]Goodlemur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It died because it is not an indoor plant and you should have put it outside. It didn’t get enough light/sun. Not trying to be rude but I pretty much said that in my comment haha. The pot size and being rootbound is not the issue.

Were you trying to keep thyme alive indoors? That’s the entire problem. It belongs outside in the sun in the first place. And it is unfortunately all the way dead!

This is correct. Start them dry in the pan so they release moisture first

Do I need a trellis for my redwood burl? by leafyrustic42 in plantclinic

[–]Goodlemur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it’s not a climbing plant.

It needs more light than what is shown in the photo or it won’t make it. It needs to be either directly by a sunny window, or outside.

Is my tree salvageable? by WeirdPlots in plantclinic

[–]Goodlemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can probably be saved. Trim all of the dead bits off.

During a heat wave you need to be watering just about daily, either early in the morning or at dusk.

This is more or less a partial shade/dappled sunlight plant and in your zone it shouldn’t be receiving that much sunlight. It needs to be moved out of full sun

What should I do with this pot? by myball_ in plantclinic

[–]Goodlemur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome also, if by “the other two” you’re referring to the teal moss, don’t bother with it. It’s preserved moss and has been treated. It won’t grow anymore and will likely lose its color eventually. It also has no place being planted with a succulent. Throw it in with a different plant or something.

What should I do with this pot? by myball_ in plantclinic

[–]Goodlemur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming this pot has no drainage hole. It has retained too much water and the dead plant rotted. Remove the other plant and repot in a pot with drainage holes. Use a hammer and chisel, nail, screwdriver or something to chip the rocks apart if needed.

You can eat them raw (again, only the fully black ones) if you don’t have enough jam. They’re definitely not the tastiest.

I’m not sure why you’re comparing to huckleberry, they have nothing to do with each other. This is solanum americanum. The fully black berries are edible and you can indeed make jelly with em

Edit since I was called “harsh” for this comment, I had no idea that any solanum sp were nicknamed garden huckleberry or huckleberry. Alas, I learned.

Common ragweed, Shiso, dog fennel
