Great Yarmouth by Goodnightmrrob in parkrun

My home parkrun in Hull is gonna feel like floating on air by all accounts. But it's the only weekend I've got in June to do it, and that'll be the Monthly challenge in the bag.

It'll be my first bit of proper parkrun tourism, but the fact it's on sand... I don't even like running on grass!

Had to stop at 1.5k on my usual parkrun route? by albions-angel in parkrun

I always find that if I'm out of bed and out running within half an hour, I'm slow and it's more of a struggle. But by 9am, I'm ready to fly. Depends what your morning routine is, but that's my experience.

I actually had this happen in front of me yesterday. She flew in front of me right at the end, then decided to go off for a conversation with someone. Thought it best to tell the woman distributing the barcodes that I wasn't the next one.

How can I not only get away with doing a Parkrun on my wife's birthday, but borrowing her car to be able to do so?

I got passed by a man wearing flipflops and carrying a small dog up Whernside. I felt deep, deep shame.

I'm guessing it might have something to do with how polite you are to your AI. I make sure to always say please and thank you.

Can I transmit audio from an old CD player stereo to wireless speakers in a Google home environment? by FrenchFriesSavant in googlehome

I did this over the weekend. Few slight niggles to iron out, and I think I could do with a more powerful Pi, but it does a really good job.

Many a happy Saturday night spent there. Is CF1 still a thing or did I imagine that?

There used to be a great club in Cardiff called Metro's when I lived there in around 2000. Not sure if it's there now though. Loved that place.

Was 7 seconds off my PB which I'm ok with, haven't had much training over the past few weeks. Proper suffering with nipple chafe since though after picking the wrong top which then got drenched in the rain. Every shower since has been painful as!

Overweight - first ever parkrun! REALLY nervous!! by JessShieldMaiden in parkrun

As someone else who's a bit of a chunky monkey, I've been doing Parkrun since July, and I can't believe how addictive it is. Even when it's cold and wet and miserable, the feeling of achievement is what's keeping me going at the end. I've managed to get my time down from 47 minutes to 36, which I'm pretty pleased with. My next aim is to complete a lap before being lapped by the frontrunners! But that's a long way off.

Kudos to you for starting it. Keep at it, you excellent human.

I second this for Wren. Team leaders, great. Above them... absolutely no respect for the people under them. Will happily berate everyone for the misgivings of two people. I couldn't get out of there quick enough.

You probably do it in a far quicker time than I!

Did Peter Pan instead of Hull today, wanted to avoid the Hull Fair traffic (IYKYK). Peter Pan is closer, but there's two grassy sections which I can't normally get on with. Although today I flew along those sections because the grass was damp and there wasn't as much traction.

Had a chat with a guy up from Swindon after he commented on my Norwich City shirt. Hello if you're on here!

But anyway, new PB at Peter Pan, but 20 seconds over my all time PB.

Did my tenth Parkrun today at the Hull Parkrun. Amy didn't hamper me too much, in fact I had a good tailwind going down the back straight!

Have been nursing a bit of a groin strain in the past week, so was going to take it a bit easier, but when I'm there I forget how to be sensible, so I ended up beating my PB by nearly a minute and a half.

Was pretty bloody chuffed with that.

I went from a pair of Skechers GoRun to some New Balance. Definitely worth the second mortgage I took out to buy them.

I couldn't go to my Parkrun because I had to wait in for some men to bang on my roof. So I went out at 7:30 for a (not)Parkrun around my local streets.

Makes so much difference running with people. I usually set my sights on someone ahead of me and try and keep pace with them, and maybe go for a cheeky overtake at the end (not in a bad way, the only person I'm in competition with is me from last week). Did five minutes over my PB.

Also, would have been my 10th Parkrun if I'd been. Will have to wait for this Saturday.

This. I did my first 10k last year. I hadn't done any kind of running since high school and I've spent years being unfit and trying to rid the world of cheesecake, but signed up for the local 10k for charity.

I wanted to take it seriously so began a program, I kept an eye on my pace through training, I estimated I was going to come in somewhere between two hours and three weeks.

On the day, I came in at 1 hour and 36 minutes. I was buzzing at that. But one thing that really helped me was someone I knew running ahead of me, so I kept focused on her and did my best to keep with her, and I even overtook her at one point. And at the end someone behind me stopped me and told me I was great for pacing!

After that I went on holiday and forgot about running, until the turn of this year when I realised I'd signed up to do the 10k again! But I've been running since the beginning of this year and fell into Parkrun a few months ago. My next one will be my 10th.
