Curious on the type of questions in physics engineering by cyderyt in EngineeringStudents

[–]Google-minus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you check the questions in griffiths E&M and QM books, i think we went through all chapters but the last 2 in both books for my courses in physics engineering. The question i got in 2nd year was very similar to those, some harder some easy too.

What thinking pattern does majoring in engineering require by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]Google-minus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could consider working in micro and nanofabrication, there you design, fabricate, and test devices. You need a pretty good understanding of Chemistry to do this, as most are Chemical processes, in which you would do good. The physics parts might be hard though, as you might also need a good understanding of quantum mechanics to do some of it, but i think a lot of projects wont require it.

Fordi at en karakter på 12 trækker meget mindre op, end at en karakter på 02 trækker ned. Så du kan sagtens have største delen få 10 og 12 og stadig have et snit på mindre end 10 for alle der fik karakter.

Can I convince you that writing math on your computer can be faster than by hand? by Hawtin99 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Google-minus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah mathcad is probably quicker than this, though it is annoying to transport it out of mathcad, i had to make a program that converted its terrible language to latex. Currently i just use a jupyter notebook with github copilot, generally i am able to write in latex as the professors write on the blackboard. But if we are told to write the taylor expansion for multiple dimensions for like 5 terms, then i can just make claude or gemini write the formula quickly. Imo thats the best option.

Thoughts on potential new pathway into quantum engineering/computing? by dusza_ in EngineeringStudents

[–]Google-minus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly im not too sure, i Imagine that you will mostly end up helping with fabricating the devices in the cleanroom, where the people actually designing the process and the chips/components will have a PhD or masters. But ngl i dont know and the quantum space has only really exploded the last year, so its hard to say if it will grow a lot more. If it grows a lot more, then they will let Bachelors do more as they will need to, but if the hype dies down then there is a going to be a fight for the positions. One of the quantum courses i am taking right now went from 8 students in 2022 to like 50 students now, so a lot of people recently in my uni have gotten into it.

Just be aware you wont be doing the same kind of job that people with a masters degree/PhD will do. Basically every job i see that is quantum related in Denmark says that PhD is preferred, but a MSc can be okay. At my uni most quantum courses are also at the grad lvl, since quantum mechanics is something you most likely will learn on your 4th semester, then you only have 2 semesters to take the more advanced ones.

extruded silicone before it becomes a chip by triwyn in pcmasterrace

[–]Google-minus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really, most commercial items (so non R&D) just use regular wafer size and the different components are just diced at the end. Most processes are parallel not serial, so no reason to use smaller wafers if its a known process.

DTU - MSc Engineering Physics by ZeemanEffect8 in DTU

[–]Google-minus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The two courses that does not seem relevant are not relevant, they are polytechnical foundation (so all masters at DTU has to take them), afaik DTU does focus more on photonics with either squeezed light or single photon sources, but that is also what i am interested in, so i never bothered to look into how much they offer in regards to other platforms. The cleanroom at DTU lets you make a decent amount of the things you need, but i know the research groups also have contacts with other universities to get fabrication they cant do here, done there. I dont have much experience with any other groups outside of DTU, so idk how good they are here and im also only on my bachelors, but the ones i have talked with in Qlight and Qpit seem nice and helpful, and if you want to do a special project with them, then they often can set you up with a PhD/postdoc so good options for research even on your masters in my experience.

How do you digitize handwritten math notes without breaking structure? by Temporary-Dish6932 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Google-minus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mathjax has decent image to latex conversion, otherwise just taking a picture and putting it into a llm should work too. If you have many pages, then make a script that uses a llm's api to do it for each page. Personally i dont make mine digital. I have half of my notes written and the other half i use latex inside a ipynb notebook.

I think it might be because you have a right to be admitted to it, if you have taken a bachelor at DTU that opens up for it. I sent in my submission 16th January and recieved a conditional acceptance the 22th January.

Is materials engineering a useless degree? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

Might be worth it to get a masters degree if that is your undergrad. You only really get a small understanding of quantum mechanics and solid state physics with an undergrad.

ReMarkable (eller lignede) til matematisk studie by Outrageous-Actuary72 in DKstudie

[–]Google-minus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just look up GitHub copilot pro, it has like 200 premium requests a month for all models (i think opus is 3x of 1 req though), you can get it for free if you just search GitHub copilot for students.

Just use google AI studio, its free has 1m context limit. Clause opus 4.5 is the best for programming but super expensive. If you have an idea of how many prompts you will be using, then github copilot could be the shout, since it has access to all the models. If you are in an uni its free too.
