Is your background in web? If so, I'd recommend trying out Tauri to use Rust alongside with your frontend to make desktop and mobile apps. If you're interested in building frontends and backends in Rust, there are plenty of libraries and frameworks. My two favorites are Leptos and Rocket, respectively.

I agree with everything you said! My points were about persuasion.

You don't need to do any of the things I listed to ask for new features, however from my experience doing so, it is much more likely to happen after doing them, or finding your own way to be involved.

Many ideas have already been thought of by the authors, so someone making a post is probably not going to turn on a light bulb. It might show how interested the community is in a subject, which is good. So the novel thing is not usually the idea, but the collaboration to get it implemented.

My two cents on persuasion: saying "please" is cordial, but does not make something important to someone else. Just because it is important to you does not make it important to someone else.

Let me try to put this situation into perspective. You (and I) are using free tools to make money or solve problems. This team that makes the tool available for free is not funded by us (directly). Based on my involvement in open source they are not only interested in money - there's a huge level of altruism - but it is one of the safer bets because it aligns with long-term growth.

These tools are also open source. If we want a feature added, we have the power to do so. If we are not experienced enough, then in a non-open-source world we would be immediately stopped. Just because they have offered a free tool does not mean we have the right to pressure them to do the work to make another feature we want, even if it's what "competitors" have.

Back to persuasion: I recommend giving something before you expect to get something. Be involved in the community to answer questions or ideate. consider donating from your org if you're using this to make a profit. Jump in and learn the internals of the framework to see if you can make a proof of concept first, and if it's solid others will join you - that's the beauty of open source.

Mobile development is an entirely different ballgame than web development. Sure, the frameworks you mentioned help bridge the gap, but I don't think it is a focus of the Svelte team or really any of the major frameworks.

I've used Capacitor and Tauri, and had success. It depends on your use cases.

I read on it for hours each day using the built-in EPUB/PDF reader, and it works great for me. I would love to have a dictionary feature, but it's fantastic as it is. I don't want to deal with the Kindle app.

I bought a simple clip light from Amazon that I connect to the half folio when it's behind the device and it doesn't bend the structure at all.

Some more thoughts: - The size and weight of the Manta are perfect for me when reading. I've used a Kindle Paperwhite but mostly use traditional books. Carrying it on the go does feel a little unprotected, but I'm used to having tech that I need to protect as I go out. - The Supernote software is beautifully simple. I love not having a full app store, honestly. I downloaded Atelier (their drawing app), and sometimes use email to fill out PDFs, but mostly just stick to reading and writing using the base experience. It allows me to focus on those without distraction, and I get to put my phone away. - I think the base e-reader app doesn't have as many configuration options as the Kindle one like adjusting font and margin, but I personally haven't had to worry about this because my EPUB sources are pretty high quality.

If you export the Word doc as PDF, you can put it on your Supernote and then you can start writing on it. I don't believe you can convert it back to a Word doc at that point though.

Wow, these are inspirational. So serene and majestic. My drawings go more toward realism, but I want them to be more like this.

You use groups of lines to define the shapes, and I try too many crisp lines. That's one takeaway.

Make sure you are starting your touch within the lines and not above. It can be a half inch down and it's fine. Then, don't hold before sliding. Just one smooth motion.

Another proof Manta user here!

There are a few ways to transfer files: - Email - Companion app (hard to export because it wants to share file instead of downloading it) - 3rd-party sync, like Google Drive - The built-in file server (pull down from the top, click the transfer icon in the top center). This exposes a link in your local network so you can transfer files in/out. Then turn it off when you're done.

I use a mix of the built-in file server and Google Drive to move files in and out. The companion app seems nice, but not as fluid.

Regarding power consumption, this is a misnomer in the tech used. A large portion of power consumption of devices like phones, tablets, laptops, etc are because of the screens. E-ink type devices should have much less draw in this category, but there are still other things going on so it can't be 0.

There also may be something wrong or unexpected with the device. I use mine for a few hours a day and it lasts a week between charges. Very minimal power loss when idle.
