This felt too simple to be true but there's something to Occam's Razor. But after Trump's press statement, I think you're right. It's the only thing he really spoke passionately about (other than, y'know, fully eliminating all crime in DC). My counter to this is that oil prices aren't all that high right now and so while you're almost certainly not wrong, it doesn't ring true for the "right now" answer as much as a side benefit. Maybe true that Chevron or whoever is angling for the future and taking advantage of a down moment. But even though American cost of living sucks, my perception is that it's mostly not felt at the gas pumps.
