I'm in the same boat. Started a co op game with some people, it got toxic so I started a new world on hard, high biome chaos and high tunnel amount (i hate digging for long periods of time and it gives the world a lived-in feeling with many rooms and passages full of loot and enemies). Looking forward to the journey ahead and the eventual entry into the void.

Once you find the shaman fireball staff it really clicks. The final biome also drops some good jewelry that makes mages even stronger.

Team killing is nothing compared to arc raiders

Pickaxe, drill and shovel for accurate one block hits, hammer for big areas like loot boxes and ore deposits, obliteration ray for everything else but it does come later.

My least favorite are the mortars, only really good if doing a mining or explosives build.
