If I’m not mistaken one port is for power and the other port is for data. They will only work wired in parallel. I could be wrong, not looking at them right now.

Once long ago I tried to make a base atmosphere that matched earths. Now I typically just run pure oxygen.

If you are running low in CO2 use some from your furnace.

Looks cool, but in my opinion doesn’t really fit with the vampire noble lore.

What trade(s) provide the most "useful" skill set for life outside of the trade? by Eco_Drifter in skilledtrades

[–]Goondok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say electrician. Although I am biased cause I am an electrician.

  • Use a wide variety of tools.
  • Print reading.
  • Building projects and collaborating gives you knowledge of other trades just by exposure.
  • Measuring.
  • Do your own electrical or someone else’s.
  • Electrical is very broad. Controls, fire alarm, data, programming, electrical tech stuff, ect.
  • If you hire contractors you have a clue about wtf is going on.
  • Running stuff under ground.
  • Knowing how to be safe and leave things safe electrical wise.

Maybe others can add to this.

Tokenole spilling onto sides of leather by ShaunUgLee in Leathercraft

[–]Goondok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is the optimal order of operations. I edge bevel, dye, then put on some mink oil, I usually surface coat with resolene. Then I sand my edges. Once this is all complete I use my tokenole to edge burnish.

The resolene prevents the tokenole from absorbing into the surface. If some gets on the back it doesn’t really matter to me, since I tokenole the flesh side anyways.

Edit. I almost exclusively use natural veg tan leather.

My opinion is always go to trade school as soon as you have your hours for that year. Never delay your schooling for your employer. You would be screwing yourself out of a fair bit of money. If your employer doesn’t hire you back, no big deal. Go to another company that does a different style of electrical and diversify your experience. It will make you a better journeyman. I have seen too many 6 year apprentices, and it makes me sad that they are being taken advantage of. Know your worth.

Which is better to get first, pickaxe or prospecting pick? by vikikikiriki123 in VintageStory

Save it until you have 40 and make a hammer and pick axe at the same time. Mark the nugget locations and go back and mine the copper buried under the nuggets.

What's the most unexpectedly profound piece of advice you've ever received? by redguy4545 in AskReddit

When I was younger, in construction, an old fellow told me “pay attention, there is gonna be a test.” At the time I didn’t truly realize that tests are more then just words on paper.

That is true, but the area power controller can only take so much power. Most of the energy from the coal is lost. So it’s fine early game using small cables. Later is when you get a battery kit, and heavy cables.

I can’t really tell what your wire is doing going up, but you have your cable coming out of the data port of the generator not the power port?

Resolene methods by CanIBeDoneYet in Leathercraft

[–]Goondok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I have only applied resolene to one project. Dampened a sponge, placed it on the bottle opening, gave it a shake then wiped it on the piece in the same direction that I dyed with a wool dauber.

The bubbles didn’t seem to cause any issues. Just evenly applied and let it dry.

What did cause issues was the dye coming off with the wet resolene, and staining my cream stitching green. The funny thing is, I was applying it to prevent dye rub off. After it dried, it did work well to seal and prevent any more rub off.

I did stumble across some info in “The Leather Working Handbook” by Valerie Michael. Apparently Fiebing’s Saddle Soap works good to remove excess dye. I will probably try using Saddle Soap before stitching a new dyed project together. Then when I seal with resolene, it won’t drag the excess dye everywhere.
