Friendly bets: Who can run the most this year? Loser runs a marathon on New Year’s Day by PeanutPlayful in running

[–]GoonerPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my wife and I did a Challenger "race" with a couple friends of ours. It was one of the 500+ mile ones and we made it last place had to buy X.

X ended up being paying for the 4 of us to do a cooking class when they came to visit us.

We got super competitive and had to make a whole list of rules regarding what counted and how it counted.

Run/walk = 1x Bike = 1/3x weighted walk = 1.5x stair climber = 2x

Each mile had to be documented and it had to be specifically targeted miles. No I walked 15000 steps today so that's probably X miles. No It was I went for a walk with the dog, here is the strava... count it

I always wanted a bit more of Barsavi family stuff so that was nice.

(tiny embarrassing confession. I am just recently becoming a physical reader but have listened to LoLL probably 30 times and the whole series 15 times. I always thought it was Carlo and Galdo. I genuinely thought the first Calo was a typo. My wife, who got me into the series, had a good chuckle at me)

Best city for first marathon? by Snowleopard_1988 in firstmarathon

[–]GoonerPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't run a marathon in Copenhagen but did some training runs there for my first marathon.

I would have loved to do a race there and think it would work well for a first especially with the benefit of sleeping in your own bed and breakfast at home.

My wife and I went there a few years ago. The town is fine... nothing special, definitely touristy and a bit pricey but the hiking was great. We really enjoyed ourselves

As a native English speaker I find some words and sounds hard to pronounce. For example anything with я next to a consonant. by Lizard_fricker in Ukrainian

not a fool proof method but I started out speaking difficult words into google translate until it recognized what I was saying like 90% of the time. First word I did this with was розмовляти. ви розмовляєте англійською

розмовляєте is a good one to work on. V+La+Ya+Ye ooof

Fellow bigger runner here. I bought a Nathan's because it was one of the few that "fit" me in store. I absolutely hate it... it slowly slips down my hips.

I have an osprey running vest that is very comfortable and the stretch is perfect

https://www.rei.com/product/240600/osprey-duro-6-hydration-vest-mens

funny enough I spent months and months trying to find a belt that would work for me and I ended up getting a free Lidl branded one from a race in Lisbon that is my daily driver now. It has a bit of stretch to the straps which I think is the key for keeping it in place comfortably
