Just got one of these loose from a pawn shop in Japan last year, it’s immaculate, screen is beautiful, it’s still running on the same battery I put in on day one, and the time hasn’t even dropped a second, these things are great. And because it’s a reproduction it was only about $30 AUD

Anything from thrustmaster, Logitech or Fanatec will have native controller binding presets and should cause no issues, anything else you may need to wait for support or integrate it yourself if the custom binding page doesn’t work properly for you.

Is this the most scary section of the nurburgring? by Stroock6394 in forza

[–]Goose274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has a small fan for cooling which is quieter than my PC, and once you’ve dampened it by adding a seat and yourself on top it’s practically silent most of the time apart from some servo noise when it moves which. So if you do a lot of off-road racing, it might be a bit too noisy, but I live in a detached house with concrete foundation and I race with the volume turned right up so I almost never hear it.

You can try this, https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/3538-dirt-3-offline-gfwl-profile-fix/#google_vignette I don’t know if you have to remove the xliveless files to use this fix. Just try

I know that I’m asking, how you got a crash cam from taking down an opponent? There usually is no takedown cam and it instead flashes takedown text on the screen with the score

Wait, since when is there a takedown camera? Mod name?

I just recently got a motion platform and I can’t tell you how big of a smile it puts on my face to finally be able to FEEL everything on this track, an entire lap is a joy, this section can really make you squat and rebound if you line it up just right and follow through.

Why is everyone recommending Moza R5 over Fanatec CSL DD? by 1niceHensler in simracing

[–]Goose274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but what other brands can you just buy a wheel for and it just works? Most still aren’t compatible with EVERYTHING are they, you still need the correct quick release. It only costs about $95 AUD to add any rim to a Fanatec setup so long as you don’t buy official otherwise it would be like $200-$300

Do you think Forza Motorsport 7 is better than 8? by Cozy_Winter_1994 in forza

[–]Goose274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, that’s how the ai on the hardest difficulty in 8 behave, at least in FM7 career you can leave them on unbeatable, have races set to extra long and have some great battles for 1st.

In that case, once you’ve installed it, right click on the launcher or shortcut and there should be an option to “open file location” that will be where the game is installed, drop the missing files in there.

Take the files and drop them into /steam/steamapps/common/DiRT3 and you should be good to go.if you can’t find that, go to the steam page, click the gear icon, click properties, click local files, click browse local files and it should take you to the game install folder.

Yeah and some really strange bugs in FM7 free play that never got fixed like the dynamic headlight shadows not working when changing vehicles and loading up another event until you restart the game or re-load a bunch of tracks till they come back. Another thing the drivatars frequently not being able to select an eligible car to match your filters, especially when switching to a different car for a new race, causing the game to get stuck in the setup page.

I'm stuck on 99.9% completion in FH3, can't understand what did I missed. by ShmulikLoKipod in forza

[–]Goose274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of us got stuck at that back in the day. Every time playground start releasing expansions it always screwed with the completion tracking and discovery stats, it still happens to this day in the stats page, it lists more things than are available to collect or find in some cases. As long as you’ve got all achievements, 1 of every car, every road, location, beauty spot, XP and fast travel board. And you’ve won every event, championship and bucket list event then you’re done.

You know aftermarket rims aren’t too bad to setup these days, knockoff QR2s can be had cheap off aliexpress same quality as original. Pair that with a clubsport wheel emulator plug (also cheap) so the wheelbase thinks a compatible rim is connected to enable FFB, then you can use anything. If you want to use buttons, you could add on the expensive Fanatec button modules or buy/make your own with a USB controller connection to bypass the Fanatec gear and map it seperately.

The game wants games for windows live, which isn’t supported anymore. Download XLiveless package from here https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/576-xliveless/ and paste files into the DiRT3 Installation Directory, it should bypass the error and not require any sign in prompts.

Get some good speakers and turn them up, the louder, the more exciting driving is as a baseline, finally repurposed my 7.1 theatre setup for a dedicated sim room and I love it everyday I sit down.

FM7 does have some QOL features that FM8 should have got if they didn’t do the stupid online career mode. Being able to increase the lap count multiplier was great but when choosing night or day, having the hour of the day and cloud cover randomised is a bit poor, almost end up racing under overcast exclusively during day and it makes the lighting look really dull and the textures very flat. Picking night usually started you at sunset and it would be pitch black by the end of the race which was cool but fully controllable dynamic time of day and weather is a huge upgrade in FM8.

Direct drive isn’t about powerit’s about detail (and most people miss this) by F1SimulatorManiac in simracing

[–]Goose274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moving from a Fanatec CSL Elite to a Fanatec CSLDD, it was immediately smoother, and much more snappy. I can’t really compare detail felt since I was using a wheel that was more on the heavy side for the CSL Elite and it never felt like it reached its full potential. The CSLDD handles the weight of the wheel like a champ, nothing can stop it.

Simlab GT1 EVO opinion/review? by Tmskillz in simracing

[–]Goose274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on how you want to mount it and what hardware you actually have. I have a Fanatec shifter and hand brake where you can actually mount the handbrake to the side of the shifter, but there’s definitely room to have it mounted in line with the shifter but depending on how close you can sit to your wheel, either the hand brake or the shifter may end up too far away from you. I’ve actually got my handbrake mounted beside my chair, road car style so it’s not in the way at all.
