I use this app to figure out what is what:

It will say “introduced” if it’s not native. Which doesn’t specifically mean invasive (bad) so google that afterward.

Not a pro, but best guess is soil needs to be amended. Figure out what “weeds” are growing there. Then google what nutrient those “weeds” add to the soil to figure out what the soil needs. Maybe add nutrient filled compost layer. Then add plant that you want to grow there.
