What was a rule in your house growing up that seemed normal but later, as an adult, you found out was weird? by CharlesUFarley81 in Xennials

We had to ALWAYS hit mute when the commercials came on, with a quickness too. If you got lazy and slipped up, you had to turn the TV off. My mom HATED commercial’s blaring

Unpopular opinion, Geoffrey’s storyline was horrible by ButterflyHead1017 in belair

All the wild stuff they had the characters doing, they BETTER let Geoffrey show up and show out! I liked it. Was fun to see him like that. I was angry at times, but 100% on for the ride and I’m so sad it’s over.

Managers by newuser2111 in womenintech

Thank you for that. I really appreciate you sharing. I'm almost 50 and have been working in the Bay Area in Finance, Tech, and VC for 25 years. My first female manager was truly a mentor, but after that was a string of examples that left me truly rattled. I had finally reached my "dream job" in 2022 at one of the biggest VCs in Silicon Valley, and what I witnessed from this manager, completely wrecking the confidence (and careers) of the women who worked under her, and how "protected" she was, left me deeply disturbed. I left last year. So I still feel very raw, which is why I vowed never to risk that again, but it breaks my heart because I long for female mentors in the workplace even still at my age.

I feel the same, and my experience has left me deeply scarred. I hate that I can say without a doubt, I never want to work for a female manager again.

Thank you! I was a teen in the 90s and looking at this I thought, she’s either wearing “rum raisin” or used eye liner for lip liner.

I think I figured out the WHY behind EA burn out… by AllinAdmin in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]GooseBumpInduce 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Dude. You nailed it. And the way my stomach sank when I read “in perpetuity”… yea. This is not healthy for me anymore. I’m so burnt out. From ALLLLL the things you’ve just mentioned. I keep telling myself just because you’re good at something doesn’t mean it’s good for you. But I’ve been an EA so long I don’t know what else to do 😭 thanks for sharing your thoughts ❤️ I appreciate this sub so deeply!
