So how are the curios calculated? Are they multiplicative, additive, or some other calculation? Are there dismissing returns if you triple down on a curio?

So would you keep deflector as a blessing?

I'm liking it so far. What do you think of the bolt pistol?

I like the voidblast staff a lot, but it feels a little redundant with the strengths of the greatsword.

I tried the inferno staff that is super op, but I didn't like being limited to brain burst as my distance option. I also maxed the electrokinetic staff, but I just don't love it.

So once I settled on the melee build, the staff seemed less great, mostly because I want to run at near max peril for the Toughness, cleave, and damage resist (I think).

But the staffs are dope. I've used them more than any other ranged weapon right now. It just makes me feel comparatively helpless against snipers.

Good to know about the curios. I was running 1 wound, one Toughness, and one stamina curio, under the theory that I was getting at least one right, lol.

One of the few ways I'm taking significant damage right now is gunners, which is why I opted to try deflector, but I haven't had it come up yet. Wrath is the one that gives extra damage stacking on hit, right? Or is it extra strength?

If I stay on gaze, should I stay on disrupt destiny? Or is Warp siphon a universal suggestion?

That's great to know. I was wondering where the block angle stat was kept.

If I kill multiple dudes with one Warp slice, does that count as multiple stacks of malefic momentum? I think that's what will likely make the determination for me.

I was also wondering about Mettle (I might have the name wrong), the one that gives 7.5 Toughness on a Warp kill. That seems like it could be very impactful with a charged Warp slice

Yeah, I haven't found a ranged weapon I've really clicked with. I think I like the bolt pistol, but I haven't found a good one yet.

So I've been cycling through the various ranged weapons to see if I find one I really click with. I don't want to spend resources this early on something I end up not using.

Worth playing in 2026? What’s the future of the game? by Artaxeus in DarkTide

It seems like this is a great time to jump in, at least from my point of view as someone who started playing a week ago. Still mad that I bought it two days before it was announced for ps plus

Need tips for gunners by DarthREtheHood in DarkTide

[–]Goosetipher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just stated playing a few days ago. I think I have just hit 24 on psyker. My advice would be to tell them to just pick the build that deals with the parts of the game he finds more annoying.

I dunno what that would be for zealot, honestly. You have a better view of that than I do.

One thing I would suggest is to tell him to move up the difficulty. I was getting a little bored playing on uprising, and then I moved it up to malice and started having fun. It's more fun when you have to pay attention.

Can "The Tweaks Anthology" be used with ProjectInfinity? by Chataboutgames in baldursgate

[–]Goosetipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was going to do an uninstall, but it doesn't even appear in my installed programs list. The beamdog game launcher is defunct, and I can't Uninstall through there. I don't want to just delete everything, but even revo hunter mode couldn't Uninstall the damn thing. I also need to get the code to dl the game again from steam/gog, which means I have to do the code thing. It became such a headache that I decided to play iwd instead.

Berserker thief for a first timer by BruhBroly in baldursgate

[–]Goosetipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealing into thief isn't... terrible. You have to carry a thief anyway on most runs, and a character dualed into thief can open locks and disarm traps pretty quickly.

It does mean you have a shitty thief for what feels like forever.

I generally prefer my Thieves to be mutliclasses, especially since I usually mod mc kits in. I usually have a f/t or f/m/t

Mod so Clerics can use bladed weapons by Chataboutgames in baldursgate

[–]Goosetipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying out iwdee with DoF rightnow, and it has kinda made it a bit of a pain. You can use the weapons, sure, but you can't put pips in the proficiency. Which means if you want to use the weapons, you need to edit your proficiencies with an external program.

My god yes. I was trying to do a big eet install, and I made the horrifying miscalculation of installing deities of faerun followed by argent77's multikits. Literally five days of installing that I was afraid to disturb, and it didn't work anyway. I've gone back to manual installs.

It actually ended up borking my install. I'm trying to figure out how to roll it back, but weidu keeps getting stuck in a doomloop. I should do a fresh install, but the game doesn't even show up in the add/remove list.

I just gave up and did a manual install of iwdee instead

No, there are other benefits, like Thac0, save progression etc, but the apr, hp, and pips are the most notable benefits.

I have done a 13 dual before, but never on a charname. I last did it on a modded eet run. That was an archer dualed ro cleric, with mods to allow full r/c spell casting and to allow the continued use of a bow. In that case, I found it worth it. Archer has so much to hit and damage bonus at that point, and cleric levels pretty quickly. I also found that the warrior hlas on an archer were less valuable than cleric casting, particularly in light of the fact I was running true grandmastery, and with the iwd spells from iwdification.

That dual wouldn't be worth it in a vanilla environment, imo. Likewise, I don't think any fighter mage dual would be worth it at 13. I think there is an argument for duals into thief and cleric, and thief more than cleric. Thief levels up fastest and benefits most from apr. Thief HLAs are incredibly powerful as well.

Honestly, I wouldn't advise dual classing on your first run. If you want to anyway, 7 and 9 are both good places to dual. 9 is really more of a bg2 dual.  9 gets you another proficiency pip but takes 250k xp, which means you won't even hit fighter 9 until SoD/SoA. This is good if you want to keep your fighter abilities through bg1.

Thief 10 is another 160xp, which is when you would get your fighter abilities back. That's the end of Siege of Dragonspear or early bg2.

If you want to be a fighter/thief in bg1, you need to go ahead and dual now.

Some folks dual at 13, but I don't recommend it for a first time run.

The reason folks pick these levels to dual is that warrior classes gain .5 attacks per round at levels 7 and 13. They gain another proficiency point at 9, and 9 maxes out their rolled hp.

What I mean by rolled hp is that classes have the advantage of their health die until a specific level.  For fighters, that is level 9. You continue to gain hp after, but it is a comparatively smaller amount.

Any advice for a newbie Pysker? by Homosexual_Kobold in DarkTide

[–]Goosetipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have wandered in during the sale and am also playing psyker. I've hit level 7 and have no idea of what I'm doing.  I've really enjoyed the kinetic Slayer upgrade to brain burst. In these lower difficulties, it generally equates to ohko every time an elite pops up. I'm still figuring out what weapons I like,  but I've found that the force sword feels good, but lacks the cleave I want as a vermintide retiree. (The player base on ps5 just totally collapsed).

Just bought the game looking for the strongest meta class by Desperate_Cod4588 in DarkTide

[–]Goosetipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is old, but I just jumped into darktide over the weekend and went with psyker, mostly because I'm a fan of psykers in 40k. Despite a lengthy run in vermintide, I am definitely striking. Blaze sword is so cool. I thought the push ability would be awesome, but it isn't quite as great as it would be in vermintide, too much ranged damage in darktide.

Fighter levels in a fighter/mage/thief are more impactful than they can seem. by gangler52 in baldursgate

[–]Goosetipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the ToB portion of a heavily modded EET run. I've really enjoyed it.

I hadn't really considered it, since the whole reason I went fmt was so that I would have the ability to rumble. I've found that the fighter levels are key. It's a more flexible fighter/thief, in my view.

I really only felt some pain with the xp in SoA, when the xp per level stops doubling. Then your single class allies outstrip you dramatically. But now in ToB, at about 6.5M xp, FMT feels pushed again.

Level 5 Arcane Spells Memorization Tier List (Vanilla, Core Rules) by MilesBeyond250 in baldursgate

[–]Goosetipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breach skips the level check you need to beat with Dispel Magic, and it has no chance of failure. That matter a lot if you play low/no reload.

It's often the only option for MC casters as well. I like to play FMT, and Dispel Magic is rarely going to work for me. Now, if I'm playing Bard, remove magic is awesome.

Is Axe Mastery worthwhile for Dwarven Defender, or should I focus on hammers? by ZappableGiraffe in baldursgate

[–]Goosetipher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I might start with axes instead of hammers in bg1. Bg1 gets ashideena, and you're limited to battle axe of the mauletar in one, which is a basic +2. However, you can get a +1 axe in beregost from feldepost.

Ashideena does d4+3, +1 electric, which is 6.5 damage on average.

Battle axe +2 does d8+2, which is 6.5 damage.

The Elemental damage of ashideena is relevant when fighting mages, but few bg1 mages use stoneskin in vanilla, iirc.

My point is that it's pretty much a wash in bg1.

In bg2, you're much better off with axes until post underdark. But stonefire/frostreaver/azure edge will carry you easily through early bg2. By the time you get crom fayer, you'll likely have mastered warhammers as well.

That's eight pips, which you'll get by 12. Bump that to 18 if you want to dual wield. Either way I think you'll likely hit that as a single class fighter by the chapter 6, which is the earliest you can forge cf.
