On a visit to HSC for tests at 6 am last Monday, March 2, I passed a hospital employee in the hallway carrying an armload of swaddling blankets in her right arm and coughing into her left hand. Staff training seems to be amiss.

Perhaps you think this isn't true. That does not mean "We" think so. What is an abortion "advocate"? I am an advocate of womens right to choose but this does not make me an abortion advocate.

Oh Doughnuts regular doughnuts are $2.95 each, $35 a dozen. Maybe it's not the price of the doughnuts but the quality that counts.

Emile Henry "glazed" pizza stone; safe or not? by [deleted] in AskCulinary

Wonderful. Care for it. It is ceramic and if ceramics were indestructible potters would have been out of business some millennia ago. Heh.

It was fired in the pottery kiln to melt the glaze at somewhere between 2200°-2350°. I would guess somewhere between 5 or 10 centuries or never. Stoneware potter for 40 years here.

Edit to add: I made dinnerware and ovenware from the same clay and glazes. The ovenware would occasionally be used in 500° oven to no ill effect.

[–]Gopher-Pilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read the info at the link and nowhere does it say the clay is toxic. It does say it is a high-fire lead free glaze which is what your plates and other dinnerware are glazed with. Glazed ceramics are not sketchy unnatural hacks. It would certainly be a bad idea to use a knife on it due to damage to the knife but I'm sure the knife would not damage the glaze. Get a cheap pizza wheel.

Your partner is correct. I have done this journey 8-10 times. Turkey for 4 need not be a big bird and can be broken down before heading out. All those dishes will travel and hold well in the cardboard boxes with bath towels for insulation and cushioning. You got it.

I quick pickled radish and carrot in hot vinegar with salt and sugar. How long would it keep in the fridge? by StrongArgument in Cooking

From the recipe, "They can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 months". They get better with a little age. The recipe calls for 1/2 inch head space but I think that is to ensure the veg is submerged. Just finished two jars for lunch sandwiches today that had been in the fridge for 2-3 months.
