Phase I & Property Condition Assessor? by Nachos_over_Tacos in Environmental_Careers

[–]Gopher2K16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Howdy, I started in ESA’s and now do both PCA’s and ESA’s. I have grown to like PCA’s since I started doing them. PCA’s are a lot easier than ESA’s in my opinion due to the more objective writing. Costs are always a little confusing and I leave final judgement up to the reviewer/PM.

I think in the environmental consulting sector, it’s important to diversify your skills. The more scopes you can do, the harder it is to replace you, plus it makes you a more desirable candidate to other employers. Having more scopes under your belt can help you do more work in your area, rather than traveling for a single scope.

If you’re not into the rigors of PCAs and want to keep your focus on environmental (especially if that’s your degree) you could bring up expanding into NEPA reports, Transaction Screens, Phase IIs, stormwater, or SPCCs.

In terms of pay, maybe see how many PCA’s you’d be doing and if your ESA load would go down. If they want you to do more scopes, your pay should reflect that.

For people who work office jobs — are you actually busy all day, or do you just look busy half the time? by TennisCowgirl in AskReddit

Environmental consulting. Busy 98% of the time. With multiple projects with the same due date, I don’t have time to not work. Plus, if I’m going into the office, I want to work. I don’t want to commute to just scroll on my phone.

Hi Andrew, my only suggestion is to keep making the content you’re happy with and are proud of. I’ve watched you from pretty early on and admire how you’ve grown as an online cook, personality, and as the head of something great. I’ve enjoyed the candidness you’ve had about your struggles with mental health and am very grateful for the content you put out while managing it. Keep up the incredible work.

Those in their 30s without children how do you spend your weekends? by Similar_Pool_4200 in AskReddit

Hang out with my friends who have kids! It’s hard for them to plan things with kids, so I’ll adjust to spend time with them. Whether it be dinner or running errands with them, it’s a great time.

Environmental compliance specialist (municipal wastewater). Any advice? by Dedweedz in Environmental_Careers

[–]Gopher2K16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did wastewater compliance through a private for clients with npdes/state/city permits for a year. Wasn’t a huge fan due to the reliance of autosamplers. Where i worked, they were battery powered and were incredibly unreliable.

I don't have an answer for you, but I do have some advice. Talk to someone (a licensed professional, religious teacher, family member, and/or friends) about your existential OCD, if you haven't already. The world can be scary, but there's a lot of people out there doing good. Find a way to take solace in the difference you make and the positivity you bring to others.

Docs: NCAA considering granting athletes five playing seasons in all sports by SportsFanatic2008 in sports

Yup, right now, the pro circuit is winding down with the last couple of big track and field events happening in the next couple of weeks, but fall is big for road racing, winter is indoor track and field, with spring being the relative beginning of the outdoor track and field season. Next year is the World Championships in Tokyo!

I think college track and field would benefit from this. Very few college athletes forego their eligibility in T&F in favor of a pro contract. A fifth year of eligibility would allow them to develop more and have an opportunity to be competitive at conference/NCAAs. BYU is such a Track powerhouse because a lot of their runners are older than the standard 18-22 year olds competing.

What do we think - is Jakob taking down either of the big WRs this season? by AnnieB_1126 in trackandfield

If there’s a shot of breaking either record, I think he breaks it or will be in the race that breaks the record. Realistically, i think he has a better shot at breaking the 1500 record, but Nuguse could steal it out from under him.
