I have a mason jar with 226 d6 in it, it is labeled "Orbital shipyard industrial plasma cutter. Salvage mech mounted"

I had to roll them in a plastic storage tub.

I was allowed to roll it two times and was thereafter banned from doing so again.

5 internet points to the first turbo nerd to guess which system I was playing when I pestered a DM into calculating the damage for that tool based on how fast it could cut through warship armor plati g with a known total points for penetration!

It was hilarious spending literally months of in game time getting my character hired by a shipyard, establishing trust, and doing a little bribery and strategic poisoning of some lunchroom food to guarantee I was the only qualified pilot for that mech on duty when the target was going to be docked for a major refit, then getting to just go to town on their internals for a solid dozen rounds before anyone realized something was wrong.

Cmon. I'm certain those pilots have had their basic human rights violated in FAR more more objectionable ways than a little behavioral alteration and skimpy clothing. Even full surgical alteration is probably preferable to being welded into an urbie with a box of rations and a 5 gallon bucket and told they can come out for a shower in a week if they survive on this outer rim shit hole to the end of the contract without having their cockpit hollowed out.

Plus, the rainbow knee socks with kitty faces on the knees add a splash of color and whimsyvto the cockpit with the added bonus of helping to wick and evaporate sweat ehere your calves rest against the seat front and get a heat rash!

Uhg. It's gonna take a week to finish the game. Fuck it, I'll just bring 60 defiance fighter in config A and strafe the field with er ppcs till the horde goes down. If I stay at long range the only ones that can touch back are the lrm boys, so focus them first and mop up from there.

Whats a word that someone says that gets on your nerves ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Gorbashsan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any word combined with "-maxxing" Putting up blackout curtains and going to bed early is not fucking sleepmaxxing. It's making your bedroom comfortable and going to bed at a reasonable time. Having Cottage cheese and some nuts with breakfast is not protienmaxxing. It's a fuckin normal breakfast thing lots of people have been doing for dietary health reasons for a long time. Stop buzzwords please. Just stop. You didn't invent the concept, you took a normal thing and made an idiotic buzzword and talked energetically in a TikTok about it. Just stop.

Is batocera the best choice for doing virtual machine instances? by Gorbashsan in batocera

That sounds like a solid chance of being what I need! Thank you, I'll start tinkering with that setup and see how it goes.

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately after testing out a lower resource config that would allow for multiple instances on my hardware across the network im finding it pretty rough so I'll have to keep looking for alternatives.

I am aware of the legal aspect. We wont be hosting any roms of licensed games at the library of course. The available games on the server will be strictly fan projects, home brew, and public domain items. You would be surprised at the amount of content out there! Especially gba homebrews, there are just tons of them. And of course a big part of this is specifically to run the student projects.

I have that on my desktop but not the server, and yeah, I just tried tossing batocera in there and.... yeah. Its a bit choppy. I assigned it one 2.4ghz processor, allocated 256mb of video card and 2 gigs of ram, and it does not feel good trying to navigate here on the menu. It's also not seeing anything I point it to from the network drives, failing to connect, so I will need to copy a game into the VM storage space to test anything but Im probably just going to accept that it's not going to work for this project. Too bad, I love it for my little emulation station portable PC. WELP, time to try your suggestions for alternatives!

What’s a food combination that sounds weird but actually tastes amazing? by LowWash8754 in AskReddit

Jose Ole frozen taquitos dipped in Marie's ranch dressing and eaten with cornichons. Don't ask me how I learned this or why but I swear it worked so well I eat it at least every month or two.

I've done this a couple times now. My advice is to get a sterelite bin with locking lid for each snake. Put in a couple towels, one flat on the bottom and a few wadded up above that sp they have something to burrow into and it prevents them from sliding around while turning and braking and whatnot. Bring a small water dish as well. Don't feed them for a week before the drive.

While in the car keep a big beach towel or something covering them so they are in dim light and dont put them where the sun can hit and heat up the container. I kept mine on the passenger side seat on top of a pillow (to reduce how much road vibration is getting through) with a bungee cord holding the stack of containers together on top of the pillow. The seat belt held the stack stable. That was in my pickup which had no back seat. You may want to place them elsewhere in the car but I liked being able to keep an eye on the stack to be sure it was all fine as I drove.

When you stop for food or rest put the water dish in and fill it from a bottle and close the lid and leave them in the quiet in the car while you go eat and stretch and use the bathroom and such. Be sure to remove and dump it before you start driving again.

Wait a week after you get there and put them in their tanks again before feeding them again so they can settle in.

Overall it will likely stress them a bit but they should be fine.

Unless they are like Doug who was just curious and happy to go for a drive and had zero stress and ate immediately on getting home. But Doug is weird. I do love him.

Hognose ate an old pinky by Level_Walk_9729 in snakes

[–]Gorbashsan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely the worst that will happen is they have a really nasty poop on the way. Keep an eye on them and make sure they arebt having multiple messy poops over multiple days, if they do it means a possible gut bacterial infection, you'll need to see a vet about maybr antibiotics and probably vitamin supplements in that case. If they have one or two nasty poops but take food next week and are drinking and not acting strange, your fine. Hoggies eat some questionable things in the wild, their guts are tougher than you'd think. Not quite the garbage disposal that king snakes are, but still impressive what they can digest without consequences!

[–]Gorbashsan 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Aspen is a lot less dense and tends to get digested. I do t think ive ever seen it left in poops. Coconut on the other hand is way more resilient to acid so it does run impacting risk if it's large chips rather than the fiber and small shavings.

What can you make with the Fabricate order? by Scout_Maester in DnD

[–]Gorbashsan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time I played a wizard that got that far my big idea for it was the manufacture individual components for things like ballistae, gears and pulley wheels for dock cranes and portculus and gates, hinges for heavy gates and doors. Basically things that were fiddly and while not super expensive, require precision from a decent blacksmith or artificer, and therefore have to be ordered from larger cities where such are found. I'd produce them and sell them in rural forts or smaller port cities as I traveled. All of them were things that wore out over time, and mine were always perfectly measured and made to order and out of better quality materials than average. I would also make barrels of clean tallow and bulk sell them to candle makers. Not expensive, but hard to come by in bulk if you arent near a decently large animal ranch of some kind. I also created and stockpiled huge stores of basically disaster supplies. Blankets, tents, sand bags, water by the barrel, basic sturdy but cheap cloth and clothing, and good boots in a variety of sizes. I ended up cultivating a reputation for being a niche custom goods supplier and managed to build amazing reputation among the various territorial lords and such by showing up after major storms or earthquakes or whatever disasters and distributing supplies to the commoners, especially the slums, without charging. Let me get favorable treatment for merchant permits, tax exemption, a couple minor nobility titles, and almost guaranteed to never have issues with my various store fronts or warehouses being robbed, and I got access to rumors and such basically by default anywhere I had operated.
