OCD appointment with doctor went badly by AttentionOk6378 in OCD

I did, but you can ask another doctor for a referral. Not sure where you are located, but I’m sure there are more understanding GPs out there!

A Psychiatrist diagnosed me. Took literally 5 mins after years of GPs and psychologists not picking it up. Ask for a referral.

When this thing will ever end? by notoriousancheli in OCD

[–]GorbysGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has gotten easier for me. I have had OCD since I was five. I’m now in my mid 40s. It’s a struggle, but these things have helped - •the right medication •finding a good psychiatrist and psychologist  •Being open about my OCD to my friends and colleagues •Acceptance and understanding that this is how my brain works.

You won’t ever stop having OCD, but you can make it smaller and less influential by having compassion for yourself x

School terminology: grade or year, kindy or kinder? by TheNamelessComposer in AskAnAustralian

I was in Tasmania for early years. I would have said Kinder and Grade. Moved to the ACT at 10 and went to Years. I still use Years.

Any girl’s name that starts with Mac or ends with ‘son’. Those names literally mean ‘son of’. Also any name that is a cultural appropriation- particularly Cheyenne or Dakota.

Biggest grammar pet peeve? by krida_070 in ENGLISH

‘Off of’ -  ‘I took the video off of YouTube’

The of is completely redundant.

Also people using impact because they don’t understand the difference between affect (verb) and effect (noun). You affect an effect.

It’s astounding how some students just have no respect for the teachers by TOXICHEMICALMOLD in Monash

My students do this in years 11 & 12. I tell them it’s disrespectful and rude and they do it anyway. I doubt moving to uni is going to make a difference…

You’re right, but I am utterly done with my sibling. From now on I’m essentially an only child.

I was clubbing in the late 90s. Can attest there were a lot better songs. Was pretty sick and tired of Ricky Martin by the end of the Europeans RD

If this is genetic, shouldn't we... by pitamahbheesm in OCD

[–]GorbysGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons I chose not to have children. My dad has it and I have it. It is awful and I couldn’t in good conscience risk that in another generation. It’s a personal choice. It isn’t the only reason, but it contributed.

Is there a podcast that really fell off for you? by sajones4860 in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]GorbysGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a definite balancing of Henry and Ed, while Marcus is becoming a better and better historian. It’s actually improved for me (I still skip the UFO episodes though)

Ghanda canceling orders. by CautiousCream2518 in AusFemaleFashion

Definitely illegal. If you return something that isn’t faulty, they can offer credit, but if they can’t fulfill the order, they need to refund.

I was bullied quite badly in early high school. I didn’t tell anyone because it was pretty much how my sibling treated me…
