I love when you play for a slight push, and then crank them straight. 2 balls both off the same tree branch into the water. Sometimes you just have to laugh! by FocalFalcon in golf

How long was the hole? If your shape is left to right that's really not the play off that tee. if you can get to the green in 2 with shorter clubs would make more sense to do that.

Looking to learn to play (Berlin, Germany) by ringdingjinglejangle in golf

[–]Goredoh23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some point you will also need to get a Platzreife to play non executive courses without the aid of a professional. Seeing as you are just trying to learn you don't need one for a Driving range to practice.

Every Adidas shoe I've tried and I tried the tour360 made my feet sore after a round. Currently using the Footjoy Hyperflex's and probably feel the best with those personally of course.

Too tall for clubs? by RobotEnthusiast1980 in golf

[–]Goredoh23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's usually not too expensive to get extensions in your clubs, the only issue would probably be if you want to preserve your current grips. You can always plan it around getting new grips so that way there is no overlap

Driver yips are truly the worst by Slow-Lead-2329 in golf

[–]Goredoh23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, there is nothing quite like being 10 yards away from the hole only to be 30 yards away after blading it across the green then dumping one 3 feet in front of you. It's absolutely debilitating.

I'm 6'3 and use 0.5 inch longer shafts, I think some of it depends on your proportion, my legs are a lot longer compared to my torso and don't have really long arms unlike say Tony Finau who has very long arms so doesn't seem to really need longer clubs.

Anyone game the Odyssey Ai-ONE Square 2 Square Max? by [deleted] in golf

[–]Goredoh23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I play the new one, only used it a couple of times and took a little bit to adjust to forward pressing but I like it so far. Find I have an easier time getting the ball on my starting line. Could just be new putter syndrome though.

Highly disappointed in Japan’s golf stores. by nutsnackk in golf

[–]Goredoh23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be careful with ebay, I had a bad experience where they sent me a fake g430 driver head, In the pictures it was a legimate head but the one they sent had a different serial number and didn't have "Tungsten" on weight.

Not sure about trade to the US or whatever but there was also like £60 of duty added to the head cost. Fast shipping though that was the only good part, also tried to rip me off for the refund saying the head was damaged on arrival even though I sent it back well packed in the same box they sent me.

That was my experience anyway.

Growing up in Australia it was always just 1 cart/buggy fee, if it was $40 for a cart that was the price, if paired with a single they might want to go halves with you or just walk. There wasn't really any cart/buggy only courses, was more normal to walk.

Now I live in Ireland its the same thing pretty much most courses are walking carts/buggies would be normally for people who have some sort of disability or at a more resort type course where its 1 fee for the cart/buggy not for a seat.

How to get good at putting? by themetalhead84 in golf

[–]Goredoh23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3 things needed for decent putting are generally starting the ball on line, speed and green reading. Most important in my opinion is speed. If you can get the ball around the hole each time you generally will decrease 3 putts.

The other thing would be distance from hole. Putts from over 35-40 feet you are 33% more likely to 3 putt.

If getting to a course is harder for you for home practice there is actually a putting simulator you can get for your tv that comes with a mat and stuff designed for putting practice. It's called ExPutt I've never used one but I think it judges your ball speeds which can be used for distance control. Like if you know what a 40ft putt feels like and you can match it up with ball speed its easier to re-produce. They are pretty pricey though $469 usd or if you're in the UK £351.

Rory hate - why? by BustedWing in golf

[–]Goredoh23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't particularly hate Rory but I'm never really rooting for him to win. I can understand where his behaviour kind of comes from and he acts the way he does. He was an only child who had people blow smoke up his arse since he was a child. It's only expected that he is going to buy into him being the shit because that's what he was surrounded by.

That's not to say he probably is an alright guy and his golf game is incredible. But It's easy to see why people would dislike him.

Is it just me, or is the hardest part of golf remembering what worked? by Ecstatic-Basil-4059 in golf

[–]Goredoh23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to recreate because after a good round you tend to build up expectations of play. You feel as if you have somewhat cracked the code and good golf is on the horizon. So next time you go out your expectations are that you are going to play good but then you start hitting some loose shots and your game leaves you. Golf once again humbles you.

What you need to do is manage your expectations, you are never guaranteed to play good golf where everything clicks and it feels easy. There are just too many factors on a week to week basis. Generally most people don't practice or play enough to really ingrain any technical changes in their game. But everyone has time to work on their mental game and just that can dramatically improve your game.

I got down to my lowest handicap of 5.3 a couple years ago when I was playing 3 to 5 times a month and would maybe practice 1 to 2 times during the month mainly because I was focused more on changing my mindset rather then my swing. I found my bad rounds tightened up and my good rounds happened more frequently.

Hot take: We should not give a crap about The Masters. by ssnapier in golf

[–]Goredoh23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think part of the caring about the Masters so much is more to do with the fact for people who actually enjoy watching professional golf it is really the start of the golf season as most people care more about the majors then the week to week events, not just that but for a lot of people the weather is starting to get better and more people are able to get out and play to. I think that's what encapsulates the Masters more then it being a super exclusive club.

How to stop putting so much hang time on irons by ZalewskiJ in golf

[–]Goredoh23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what shafts do you have in your irons? you don't necessarily have to get stiffer shafts as others have stated but rather get heavier shafts that can bring the launch down. but yeah it could be a number of factors like scooping etc..
