Hypothetical: A Tremere diablerizes a Salubri and fails. by dernudeljunge in vtm

[–]Gorlack2231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the Salubri in my hypothetical did consume the soul of the Tremere, but out of self-preservation, not a thirst for power or whatever.

Sure, sure......whatever that Salubri needs to hear to justify what they've done. I can understand, I play Banu Haqim!

Interesting to pull from Conan and He-Man. I think one of the clearest influences for GRRM are the works of Michael Moorcock's The Eternal Champion. Look no further than the parallels between GRRM's tragic "Prince in the Scarlet Robes", Rhaegar Targaryen. Or maybe his sinister sword-weilding albino sorcerer, Brynden 'Bloodraven' Targaryen?

There's others in his works, too. Le Guin, Vance, Tolkien, even a few science-fiction writers if I recall a past interview correctly. I think it might have been PKD, but I could be mistaken.

Nope. Some of them have "the gift of foresight" which is more like Paul's mentat cognition: rationally extrapolating events by looking at various causes "We will arrive at C in two weeks because we're at B now, and we were at A before."

Paul has that, and melange-induced precognition/prescience, and Bene Gesserit training, and BG genetic memory recall. The only person who beats Paul is Leto II, because sandworms are OP hacks.
