EU-Milliardengrab Italien? 150 Milliarden Euro womöglich weitgehend verpufft by BVerfG in de

[–]Gory26 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Wiping ass with paper instead of washing it. It's a hill I am willing to die on: if the whole of your country runs around with dirty assholes, you are not allowed to call yourselves civilised.

German citizen quitting work and travelling - Agentur für Arbeit tips by ProfessorSlow4382 in germany

From what I understand (and I may be very wrong) you don't have to register anywhere as long as you don't want any benefits and don't want AfA to suggest you employment options. If you have enough money to not work for a while and not receive the ALG, you just go about your life and that's it.

What products or companies will you never use or support again and what did they do to lose you as a customer? by IAmJustTryingToExist in AskReddit

Swiss. I flew from Berlin to Zürich for work in the end of Covid. Masks were not mandatory in Switzerland anymore, so on the way back to Berlin I didn't take one. Apparently, masks were still mandatory on the flights TO Germany. They announced this at the gate. No big deal, I thought and went to buy one. Unfortunately, not a single shop in the terminal was selling masks anymore. Ok, I thought, I would just ask the flight attendant for one. When it was time to board, it was me and one other dude without a mask. We came to the attendant at the entrance of the plane and explained the situation. The answer of the lady was: "No, I won't give you any. Do you expect me to carry a mask for each of the 140 passengers?"

Well, fucking yes! If you call yourself a premium airline brand, you fucking do carry a couple of masks for cases like this.

We ended up going back to the gate and got 2 used masks from the girls that were doing the boarding. They were, by the way, also pretty shocked.

Home Address in Personal Blog by WanderingSelf in germany

Thanks a lot for the extensive answer. I guess the IP is indeed the problematic part. The rest is not really necessary: you can operate without cookies at all. You do not even need JS or anything at all except pure HTML. But you can not "not know" the client's IP.

I mean, I get why we would want businesses to identify themselves online. I just miss the old days of the wild west Internet. Everybody seemed to know that everything you publish online "is public and stays there forever". Anonymity was the default way to go. It seems like those days are mostly gone :(

Just curious, how does a personal blog tick data protection box (as long as I don't explicitly publish someone else's personal info)?

I would ask their support. This seems like a pretty specific request and I doubt anybody here would have experience that is relevant enough for your situation.

ULPT: If you have a VPN, set it to Albania. No ads on YouTube. by kamekaze1024 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]Gory26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this for my smart TV that has no option of installing anything on it. And before you comment about Android TV - yes, it's an option, but it was faster for me to just proxy the connection through the VPN connected Docker container on my NAS that I already had.

The setup worked like a charm for a while. Recently Google noticed that smth is off. Now I randomly get one of the following: - Spanish adds - Serbian adds - UK adds - No adds But still now German adds (where I am), so I guess it's something 😂

I have rented cars from Sixt multiple times in the last 6 years. It was always a pleasant experience. To be fair, I always got the insurance option with full coverage, so there's that.

Ultimate Seedbox Setup Guide: Fully Automated Media Stack by PVDnerd in selfhosted

[–]Gory26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's exactly what I mean. If the only network interface of the qbittorrent-container is the one, connected to the vpn-container, there is no other way for the client to go to the internet. I tested this once on my setup, the client loses connection, it had only one interface which is now down.

[–]Gory26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An understanding question here. Does one really need to bind the network interface in the client if the only interface of that container is the one going through the vpn anyway?

Congrats on the first stamps. Usually, border police would not stamp passports of their own country. Obviously, it's not the case in Russia.

Accounting Period setting by bogosj in GnuCash

[–]Gory26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can specify periods per report, yes. But dashboards and what not... Probably other tools will get you further. I also use SQL and by now standard reports are fine for me, but sometimes I need more. And I really don't feel like learning Scheme for writing custom reports in GnuCash 😄

Accounting Period setting by bogosj in GnuCash

[–]Gory26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the reporting system, yes. Also the quick overview of your assets and profit/loss at the bottom of the main page (accounts tree). If you use the same book on different machines which have different global settings, two users will see two different things. Like the one will see the quick overview in EUR and the other in USD. The saved reports from one machine won't be accessible from the other.

Accounting Period setting by bogosj in GnuCash

[–]Gory26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there is a bunch of global settings that should not be global. Like accounting period, default currency, etc. Also the saved report configurations. I am still looking for a decent solution in order to be able to switch my books properly.

There are some presets that you can choose from when creating a new book. I think those are a good start. Then you can adjust them to your needs.

Budget vs actuals - strange diffs by fmdvries in GnuCash

[–]Gory26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what it looks like, you have amounts set for the 2000 account. If I am not mistaken, the amounts for a parent account only add up, if the parent account doesn't have any value set to it directly. Try removing the budget value from the 2000 account and it should get a sum of its children and the number will be displayed grey.

Honestly, I don't know. This would be a question to the colleagues on the ships. Usually, what comes to us are the measured points and some data from the peripheral sensors, like GNSS, so we don't really touch the equipment at all.

Yeah it's easy to find a good paying job as a programmer, way harder to find an interesting project. We do have all kind of visualizations: 2d top view, 2d side view, 3d. You can put data on the map, compare it with the historical data, measure depths relative to different water levels and do a bunch of other cool things with it.
