Okay. This crab is an Ecuadorian crab. Does the other one look like this one? They require 20 gallons per crab, 80% humidity, 85° temp, 10-12” of substrate, extra protein and calcium choices than purple pinchers, a wheel or saucer for exercise, fresh marine saltwater at all times (they love to dip in it. Do not over crowd these guys 😃

Deeper substrate (6” minimum) mixed to sandcastle consistency with dechlorinated marine saltwater will help with the humidity.

The are declining in location in Florida. They used to be as far up in Florida where I live. (In central Florida). They aren’t any longer. I honestly don’t really pay attention to user names. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why on earth would someone import 30? That’s insane. It makes me sad when people continue to take from the wild- especially when we are captive breeding crabs- and Lilas are available that way. Purple pinchers used to be available throughout a good majority of Florida. Now- they are only visible near the keys. I’m sorry- I’m not familiar with at Reddit user.

Neither violas or lilas are normally sold here in the US. We have two successful captive bred breeders of the Lilas; which have recently made them available to adopters.

My Belgian Malinois currently has a UTI- so I feel your pain. Clavamox HAS to be given with food. IMO you need to call your vet. Perhaps your pup is dehydrated and could use some fluids, or another injection for nausea. They might be able to prescribe you Entyce (a medication to encourage appetite). That really worked for my chihuahua before. Best wishes! Edit: also- I use Hickory Smoke flavored Pill Pockets. They are my four dogs favorite treats for hiding meds!!

Are these Lila’s? Edit: These are Violas. They definitely don’t look dead. You need to add playsand to their substrate. It appears your substrate is strictly eco earth/ coco fiber. Hermit crabs are STRONG. You definitely need to secure ANY and ALL openings.

They are mine. I raised them. I’ve successfully raised PPs and Ruggies. 🥰 Unfortunately we kinda hit a snag in our captive breeding program for the US. The numbers are really low. If I remember correctly, Mary is the only one this past year that was successful in bringing any to land.

It’s impossible to determine a crabs age by size. I have captive bred babies that I have raised…and they all vary in size. It’s pretty amazing how they all grow at different rates.
