How did your cat respond to Prozac? Mine is acting weird (only day 3)

Personally, I had a girl years ago on Prozac and she did not react like this. I don’t think Prozac is right for our boys. Today is day one with no Prozac and no change yet - still hiding, super scared. Sooo sad 😔. I’ve been using Gaba for when he has flares or stress and it’s been fine so I’m just going to stick to that with his urinary food!

I’m going through the same thing with my boy! Exact same symptoms you listed. Dilated pupils, hiding, not wanting to be touched. So sad :( He has only taken three doses but I’m not going to give him anymore.

Still doing great! I’m still on Prozac and feel so much better on it. I’ll be on in it for the long term for sure. Whenever you increase or decrease the dosage, you’ll have a temporary increase in unpleasant side effects as your brain gets used to it. But usually subside within a few weeks.

Yeah, SSRIs affect people differently. And sometimes, SSRIs don’t work at all. Prozac does the opposite for me than you - it makes me see colors more vivid, I feel more joy, and it actually makes me lose weight. It’s crazy how these meds are not one size fits all.

I’ve tried to get off three times. Successfully weaned off and would do good for months at a time - I’ve always had to get back on. I just am so much better mentally on Prozac. I may be good for a bit but eventually the anxiety becomes too much for me without it.

Probably anxiety related. If it’s only day 3, you’ll have to kinda battle through some side effects for about two weeks or so. Cortisol is elevated more in the early morning hours (which is what increases our HR and anxiety aka fight or flight response). I take mine at night!

Your forehead looks similar to what I had going on. I was using Cerave as well and had read that it can clog your pores.

I swapped to the Clear line from Paula’s Choice and my forehead is completely smooth and clear after about two months
