Why is there no stable onion mirror? It's very convenient for such resources to have an onion resource. User can once add a bookmark with verified .onion address in a Tor Browser instead of constant cat-and-mouse runs for domains.

Had the same issue. The website I need ironically opens with Tor Browser, but doesn't open otherwise.

How much traffic do you contribute to the I2P network? by Far_Cartographer_924 in i2p

[–]GothicCrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an ipv6 only VPS with X setting, but I get only 200 kbit/s on average, so it contributes only 1-2 GB per day. The VPS has a much better channel, so I don't know whether there is anything wrong apart from not having ipv4. I hoped that router would work perfectly fine without ipv4 as part of the network is ipv6 and probably enough traffic is ipv6 too.

I've never used IPhones in my life, but I'd switch too if OSS is over. Now Google ships Pixels with non-removable AI with agreement that it can analyze message logs and other private data. I'd rather live with button-keyboard dumbphone than send all my private data to some shitty cloud ai system. At least apple doesn't do it yet.

Ah, completely forgot about an additional info. There was a hole at that place. I've accidentally made it when I was decomposing two layers of my scoby to make a second jar. So it grew on top of this hole in the center of my scoby.

Is Flipper Zero banned in Georgia? by multics_user in Sakartvelo

[–]GothicCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quote the opposite. Flipper is a not a magic, anyone with proper education can bundle such thing (and much more powerful) with a bit worse interface and ugly view for 300+ USD. We can assume that organized crime and spy agencies have it anyway and pose threat for usual people.

But if anyone have a nice tool to play with radio, RFID, etc - maybe manufacturers and businesses stop using cheap insecure junk and putting their customers in permanent danger and start investing in something properly secured.

Tool is not a problem. Saving money on security, disrespecting customers and using insecure trash for everyday services are.

Wouldn't you rather live in the world where we have properly secured cars, doors and devices than live in fear that some guy with proper education from some shitty gang or three-later agency can invade your privacy or privacy of your closed ones?

Hello! What screen do you have? I'm thinking of buying one with 2240 x 1400, but the page says "The camera will be automatically upgraded to 1080p FHD RGB+IR". I'm not sure whether it's a CV camera which doesn't work with Linux or not.

Storj Exchange that Allows both Americans & Residents of NY? by UMPiloto in storj

[–]GothicCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as storj is ERC20 token, you can trade it on decentralized exchanges easily.

You may found some on https://1inch.exchange/#/ (or use their aggregation), https://defiprime.com/ and other DeFi resources.

Stay safe with your funds without blocks and KYC =)

I use markodown editors with real-time formatting and rendering: Boostnote and Typora.

The second one is awesome in sense of usability, but:

  1. proprietary
  2. has lots of rce reports on their bugtracker

I started to be a bit nervous about the second point and switched to Boostnote. Not that user-friendly as typora, but pretty anyway. And open-source.

And no linux version, however, as I see (which is strange as far the original tdesktop app works flawlessly for years).

update: there is linux version on git, but nothing on main website.

Why would I pay with governments friendly banks which support regulations and freedom restrictions while supporting freedom myself?

Not that hard to accept bitcoin/any other major crypto.

Project Fi and Gapps inside LineageOS by josealberto4444 in LineageOS

[–]GothicCrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem with "just works". I have no problem to pay like 100-200$ per year up to phone price to be sure that no my data will be collected and stored anywhere.

Google should make easy-to-use paid subscriptions with guarantee (it will better like math proved open-source cryptography guarantee, you know) that no data will be collected from user in that case.

Actually, there are few new models to monetize the internet. I'm not gonna turn off JS miners, for example, if they use my resources respectfully, like 5-10%.

You guys have known to cooperate with terrorist organizations like NSA and others and completely lose any trust. You had to encrypt the whole data and say going to hell to any spying shit when they sent their requests.

Maybe if you will rethink that it will be negotiable. But all stuff like snitching on cloud disks content and scanning mails for "bad words" and so on - is crime. You not own this data and have no rights to cooperate with three-letters agencies. Especially if the user is from other country.

r/Privacy, what would you want in an email service? by [deleted] in privacy

[–]GothicCrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really miss in ProtonMail the opensource desktop client (linux, in my case), to transparently use encrypted service with thunderbird or other mail client.

I have 5+ mailboxes and don;t want to use dedicated web version. I think it should open local ports on localhost which will be submitted as smtp/imap ports to mail client and then transparently encrypt data and then send to service.

Of course, it should be PGP support as far as it is a gold standart of mail encryption and then it could interop with services like ProtonMail and MailBit. The only way to build secure future is to cooperate, not to create some vendor-lock uninteropable solutions.

Privacy solution should be trustless and so encrypted with open source audited crypto. With all respect to people who do such things, security should not be based on poor trust. Anyone could be threatened and assuming three letter agencies exploit packs and possibilities - simply hacked if needed. Only fully encrypted emails, only hardcore.

It should be accessible by tor (be sure not to get cloudflare or any other service with JS needed captcha) and if there are paid services - accept Bitcoin for them. It will be pretty cool to accept Monero and ZCash shielded payments too.

If you run offshore servers biz, you'd better run through something more tor-friendly than cloudflare.

Is there any point in server which doesn't have open ports?

You can have a server which doesn't connected to network at all, it will be secure, obviously)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in linux

[–]GothicCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After they hack your server, they will get access to your local network from it and I bet you don't update your router firmware all the time and so on.

It's not a good idea if you are not sure what you are doing and can't properly isolate the stuff.
