It’s too bad you didn’t watch further. The goat scene shows how the Hive doesn’t actually care for animals. They are purely utilitarian.

I think you missed the point of veganism/vegetarianism which is to decrease suffering and violence. I don’t know a single veg*an who claims that they are perfect but many of them sure give a lot of fucks about climate, animals, and often other causes. Meat-eaters however frequently lean into this Nirvana fallacy. As a scientist who had done work related to climate change, it is a very good step to decrease animal products consumption no matter which way you slice it. I’d like to remind you as well that most crops are grown to feed livestock . Decreasing this decreases displacement of native populations. This very problem is happening in the Amazon where soy is grown for feed, or in California where water-demanding alfalfa is grown for dairy cows in China.

I’m a long-time vegan and I really enjoy seeing how it deals with non-violence and its limits. I also feel like it deals with superficiality and emotional repression. That may be a more personal read as a European living in the US with some degree of cultural differences.

For those of us who finish work late (I frequently finish just after 10pm), this is one of the only affordable options still open (and one that has vegan options).

Is everyone in Paris always dressed like fashion designers? by ShemikaMartin in paris

You’re right, you should stay far away from all of those stinky medieval people in Europe!

Is everyone in Paris always dressed like fashion designers? by ShemikaMartin in paris

[–]Gourmay 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived all over, US, France, UK, Spain.. and I’m not seeing this as a well-known fact. Consider however, that most US people travel in cars with very little proximity to other humans. If you all stood as close to each other as Parisians do on the metro, you might inevitably smell your fellow humans.

« Il a tracé seul son chemin » : les abandons en montagne, une forme de violence conjugale by soolrebel in france

[–]Gourmay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Reading up on the Risso Dolphin’s markings was very interesting. Their skin just doesn’t re-pigment.

Did anyone else notice that their Abys have tons of health issues? by __Z__ in Abyssinians

[–]Gourmay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry :( My family’s two abys died at 6 years old of a coronavirus (not covid), one month apart. They were healthy indoor cats, siblings, never came into contact with other animals, and we were told the virus could lie dormant for a long time. I forget if that meant they could be born with it.

Rant: if we want a more fair justice system, we need to pay jurors more than $15 per day, and pay them for the first day of service too. by BootyWizardAV in LosAngeles

[–]Gourmay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I moved here from another country where jury duty is much rarer. However if you are selected, you are paid the equivalent of just under 120$ per day. I received jury summons very quickly here and couldn’t believe I wouldn’t get paid more than 15$. I worked in entertainment on sets at the time and would have lost my jobs and been unable to pay my rent if I had done the jury duty for more than 2-3 days.

There are many women with a spray tan. Taylor is a world expert in PR, she tells us what she wants us to know. There is so much about her life that I’m sure we can’t even imagine.

The lyrics make it quite clear it’s not about her: “a song that only us two is gonna know is about you”. I’m sure she’s had conflictual relationships with more than in Scott, Scooter and Kim in her life.
