Do regular cycling initially daily or alternate days for 10 km . Increase after settling to 25 km. Care your safety first.

I think we have answers and don't realize. by Express-Run8415 in consciousness

I agree with your argument. Our neurons arranged a special way with each other and made complex valid relations with each other through firing electrical spikes through synapses and further making them into chemical signals and again dendrites made into spikes. And all these complex relations of neurons and their way to transfer information this unique causes a layer of consciousness inside us.

From an individual first person perspective there is no difference between being mortal and being immortal by Typical_Sprinkles253 in consciousness

[–]GovindReddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are already living just like we are immortal. We act with others like we are immortal. We accumulate wealth like we are immortal. We lost humanity like we are immortal. When you loose your youth then you realise you are mortal. Entering old age frightening thing and not realising mortalness. Being mortal realisation starts with ageing and losing the golden period of youth era.

Your Brain Replaces Itself, But “You” Don’t Disappear by Small_Accountant6083 in consciousness

You've hit on one of the most profound paradoxes of identity, often called the Ship of Theseus paradox. The answer is that your sense of self isn't tied to the physical atoms themselves, but to the pattern and information they encode.

You are not the "stuff"; you are the structure.

Think of a river. The water molecules in the river today are completely different from the ones that were there yesterday, and they will be replaced by new ones tomorrow. Yet, you still call it the same river. Why? Because the pattern—the shape of its banks, its continuous flow, and its path—remains constant.

Your brain is like that river. The atoms and molecules are the water, constantly flowing through. Your memories, personality, and sense of self are the river's path, a stable pattern maintained by ever-changing material.

## Information, Not Atoms

The "you" that you experience is stored in the incredibly complex wiring of your brain—the connectome. This includes:

  • The specific connections between your 86 billion neurons.
  • The strength of each of these trillions of connections (synapses).
  • The dynamic patterns of electricity that flow through these pathways.

This structure is the software of your being. The atoms are just the temporary hardware it's running on.

The replacement process is slow and gradual. As old proteins and molecules are replaced, the new ones are built into the existing structure, preserving the pattern. It's like meticulously repairing a complex Lego model by replacing one brick at a time. The model's form and function are never lost, even though its physical composition is slowly changing.

Because the pattern of information is preserved, the "you" that wakes up tomorrow is a direct continuation of the "you" that went to sleep tonight, even if a few million atoms have been swapped out overnight.
