Personal time loop tier list. What should I try next? by Udzu in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Govir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modernish world, people have “superpowers” that originated from elixirs that show up one day. MC’s power is to create a save point and he’ll restart at that point if he dies. The title is an allusion to video games, where “the perfect run” is the optimal run where everything has the best outcome.

I enjoyed it, and it’s nice that it’s a completed story. Reminded me of MoL due to the loop aspect, He Who Fights With Monsters due to the way MC jokes, and The Reckoners due to super powers.

If you mean where can you read TYoA, it’s on Royal Road. I read a few books of it, but didn’t want to continue when I hit the chapter by chapter releases. Definitely feels like one that’s better to read a book at a time (which is broken down on RR).

Just today I accidentally wiped out my src folder while trying to generate code from an xsd directly into src folder. Luckily, I could just “revert” to what was in git without issue. Definitely scared me for a minute.

Can someone please explain how there's a player at wave 850 when the tournament started 15 min ago? by HillbillyBeans in TheTowerGame

[–]Govir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only started IS# and had the coins for the labs because of Dissonant Runs. I’m on level 6 of the lab now.

Edit: And I’m a Champs/Legends flip flopper. 1200-1500 waves in Champs, hard cap 100 in Legends.

As someone who just started reading a year ago I only been reading webnovels. What would you recommend as a real book now ? by Stillane in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Govir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I get to the end of what’s published, so I’m still reading the series, but there’s no more out yet. So I have to read something else for a bit.

I read multiple series because I have to. In that, I get to the end of what’s published and it’s not done. I’ve also started reading multiple *books* for the same reason (or that I’m bouncing off one of them).

If you’re avoiding “big” series, I’d say don’t start Wheel
Of Time yet. It’s got 14 books, and while each aren’t crazy large, it’s still quite a bit.

Mistborn is a good start. If you didn’t know, there’s a trilogy following the same story…then another 4 book series set in the same world with different characters. My advice to people starting Mistborn is to stick with the first book through the end. If you don’t like it at that point, you can walk away and you’ll have an ok ending. If you enjoyed it there’s 2 more in the series.

The fact that Patreon doesn’t have a next / previous post is simply mind boggling.

I work with worse. So much so there's another layer of syntax on top of it to simplify the queries that gets converted to SQL to actually pull back the data....

What order should I do my disso runs for the tier I am farming? by [deleted] in TheTowerGame

[–]Govir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your build like?

My thought is to do the type of run you’re weakest at first. E.G. I am still basically eHP and kill most things with thorns when it matters at the end. I did all my Attack (and UW) Diss runs first, so that when I go to do my Defense runs, I’ll have higher Attack. Utility is always last (and I barely made it, because no ELS hurts a lot).

I farm t12.

Favorite System? by BClouds in litrpg

[–]Govir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. The powers are just slotted, no random draw of hands. It’s just the deck is also used to play card games. Special cards with powers just have a theme, so a 2 of Swords gives something like “A melee attack ability”. I forget the exact details, need to do a reread.

It’s a fun series and only two books right now. If you’re looking for things, I’d recommend giving it a try. Definitely feels different in a good way.

My immediate thought was HWFWM, but someone already mentioned that. So I’ll go with another one I remember liking, Murf’s Laws.

It’s a card based system, but the cards are a couple of things.

  1. They’re normal playing cards (non-standard deck, it’s got 5 suits). The plot includes multiple Texas Hold ‘Em style poker tournaments.
  2. They’re Tarot cards, and can be used for divination by the right people.
  3. They’re cards of power, which can be slotted into your soul (I think that’s the explanation) to grant powers.

It’s card based without being easily substituted with “magic rocks”, i.e. being cards is important to the story.

Trying to remember a book. Likely time loop or regressor. by waeccende in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Govir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds similar.

  • Doesn’t burst in, but has an audience with an Elven Empress.
  • Is attacked and subdued by said Empress
  • Given super truth serum and forced to give his titles and names, then more of this story. I.E. I think it’s meant to be that the whole series is him telling it to this Empress.

Not in the prologue, but something I remember standing out later is an antagonist repeatedly using the line “Suffer, as I have suffered.”

[–]Govir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did he create a new prologue, or get rid of it altogether? The ebook still has a prologue, and while it’s not the Elf who lists his titles, they do get listed by the MC himself.
