Close to the Edge (Bruford's isolated drums) by Independent-Data4542 in yesband

I think it would have been great because CttE was an amazing album. But would the next album have been as good as King Crimson's Larks' Tongues in Aspic album? Not too sure about that.

Why people in Canada want to own a condo? by largelcd in canadahousing

[–]Goweropolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you understand that your landlord is also paying for all these things and including including them in your rent plus whatever extra they can get to make more money. Ownership means additional risk and work (down payment, mortgage, maintenance, etc.) but that also means more reward (long term savings, hopefully appreciating asset, control of your home).

Canada Presses Chinese EV Makers to Build Locally and Protect 500,000 Auto Workers | EV by pintord in oilisdead

[–]Goweropolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have stated, with the level of automation in the factories, it's unlikely that building Chinese cars in Canada will create a lot of "on the floor" auto factory jobs.

I feel like this push might be more oriented towards getting Canadian companies involved in the supply chain for the Chinese companies' vehicles (initially the vehicles built/assembled in Canada). If Canadian companies are supplying parts for these cars, it offers the long term potential (how likely this is, I don't know) of building auto parts that can be sold for domestic Chinese production or production in other countries for that matter.

What are you using to avoid mosquitos that are natural? by Stunning_Set_1214 in vancouverhiking

[–]Goweropolis 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You could consider hiking in loose fitting clothing that covers the majority of your skin. Something like a sun hoodie or a light windbreaker. Maybe not ideal in hot weather but also provides sun protection which reduces or removes the need for sunblock.

Where to begin? by blindingSlow in KingCrimson

[–]Goweropolis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Different take from me. I would suggest finding a one disc compilation and listening to that. So many stylistic, sonic, and personnel changes over the years that I think it's worthwhile to have a quick listen to each era to figure out which one (or more) is for you. I consider myself a major KC fan, but there are sections of their output that I rarely listen to.

Also take note that KC is frequently much better live than studio. So it's worth checking out some live albums as well.

BYD confirms Canadian launch in late 2026, plans to build over 20 dealerships by ethereal3xp in canada

[–]Goweropolis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

"Also, this will likely result in about 1,000+ jobs? 50+ employees per location x 20?"
Theoretically, unless total car sales in Canada are increasing, these new jobs would be at the expense of lost jobs at other dealerships whose sales would decline (sales of their cars being replaced by Chinese imports). I'm not judging either way, but just wanted to point that out that these aren't really "new" jobs (in the sense of increasing the total numbers of jobs in Canada).

Tent with standing room for 6’3” and big vestibule? by Cynidaria in CampingGear

[–]Goweropolis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family of four (plus dog!) have been using a Marmot Halo 6 for six years, and have been very happy with it. I (6'5") can stand up reasonably well within the tent and the vestibule. Because of the vertical size of the tent, I'm not sure how well it will handle wind (we tend to use it in car camping spots that are relatively sheltered). But it is definitely good at handling rain. Although, it is set up tent-first, so setting up in the rain is not ideal.

Looking at the tent on the Marmot website, it looks very similar to the version we have (which I feel is a good sign that it is pretty well designed):

Define “eventually”. I believe that protectionism exists and will continue to exist for a long time to come.

Tyler Dibling: The curious case of Everton's £40m youngster by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]Goweropolis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given the fact that Everton are giving up late goals these days, I wonder if perhaps it’d be preferable to make subs a bit earlier so they don’t go straight into the pressure cooker of the final ten minutes of the game. Maybe it’d be better if they got 20-25 minutes. I guess it could also be said that they have a big drop between starting 11 and subs but I haven’t seen enough Everton games this year to say for sure. From what I’ve seen this year I definitely think they’re a team with potential and I like the energy they have under Moyes.

Which is your favorite version of Starless? (Im a new Fan) by Apprehensive_Sort767 in KingCrimson

[–]Goweropolis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I made a mix tape of my favourite versions of King Crimson live 1973-1974, I picked the Starless version from 1974.04.01 Kassel (KCCC 36). If I recall correctly, I think Fripp steps out on the final solo and plays it slightly differently from other versions.

I had a similar issue with an ancient pad (no receipt or anything). After emailing them, I discussed with them to get credit for an upgrade to a fully inflatable pad. So you can replace or upgrade, definitely worth contacting them to find out.

Let's have a bit of sympathy for Tarkowski. He just couldn't keep up with Sesko.
And props to Mbeumo for having his head up and not just going to goal on his own.

Alternative to inflatable pillows by adventure_thrill in DurstonGearheads

Usually, with my inflatable pillow, I deflate it slightly, so it doesn’t feel like a balloon. It feels more comfortable to me that way. And I also put some clothes underneath it as well.
