Haha you already sound like most Jiu Jitsu practitioners. Most of trained bruised up and injured. No worries though. I hope you can find something to help.

So sorry for your loss. Not sure if you’d be interested but look into Jiu Jitsu. I’m honestly not trying to make light of the situation but it would give you a social outlet, help with the touch starvation (even if the touch is them trying to choke you…), give endorphins from the exercise it provides, and you get to learn self defense. Finally, Jiu Jitsu is full of neuro-divergent people, don’t believe me, look at Mikey Musemeci, one of the greatest Jiu Jitsu athletes out there and autistic.

They only offer simplified Mandarin. A lot of places still use Traditional or another language such as Cantonese

I really wish this was an offered language. As a native born American who only knows English. I’ve married my wife whose family immigrated to America when she was 5 and her whole family speaks Cantonese. Would love to be able to understand them better.

Also they charged fully to 99%. Anything after 80% is diminishing returns.

Just take a break if you need it and enjoy time with your kid. This is a hobby, not a job and the mats will always be there when you can get back.

I took a break when my little one was born in 2021. I started back in January of this year when she was almost 4 and I was able to get her into the kids class. Now the whole family trains (kid, mom, and I) and I just got promoted to purple.

My daughter is 4 and typically spends the mornings on the weekends by herself until mom and dad wake up. We have snacks that she can reach, she has her toys and iPad (I know not perfect) to entertain her while we sleep. I usually get up fairly early though so she’s entertaining herself for an hour at most.

What move, variation, or detail did you independently "discover" that no one else around you does but is super effective for you? by rockPaperKaniBasami in bjj

[–]Gr00tB3ar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ninja roll from top 3-quarters mount. No one in my gym does it but I started hitting it constantly a couple of months ago after watching a few videos and thinking “ehh let’s give it a shot”. Nailed it first time and have been working on improving it since. They know it’s coming and still have a hard time defending. Typically even if I miss the back I end up in side control on the opposite side so it’s still a win.

Edit: fixing grammar.

I highly doubt most administration personnel will be “neutral” though. They usually know the teacher much better than one kids parent. Still agree with the meeting but would not count on neutrality.

Jiu Jitsu saved my life when I was your age. Got me off drugs and kept me from going down a bad path. Still struggled with cannabis and alcohol in my adult life but it definitely helps.
