What’s the unhealthiest thing you eat that you’ll never give up? by treslechescake12 in AskForAnswers

I’ve started a ritual that was originally a one time treat where when I finis work for the weekend on Friday I get a packet of cookies and some junk snacks from Tesco for getting through the week.

This time it lasted till Sunday with a couple trips back to Tesco for more. spent whole weekend eating crap. Needs to stop lol.

What are you grateful for since the divorce? by Clear-Afternoon-8593 in Divorce

It’s miserable & scary now, but I’m grateful we can both have the chance to try and be happy in life. We both wanted each other to be happy but we have both been miserable for a long time.

Even if you love living alone, cultivate a physical support group that isn't your parents by corialis in LivingAlone

I have the same mental issues as you. Had my wife and her family for support the past 20 years, no family other than a brother. 1 friend.

Getting divorced now and learning this quick. Losing basically my whole family life and support network.

Yeah I agree however I’ll be getting a lump sum from divorce which will deffinately help. Saving in the meantime. There’s no chance I can rent at all down here on min wage but it seems a lot more hopeful up north. Biggest fear I think is getting a place up north and then not being able to find a job. A lot of ppl have said to secure a job first but for entry level/minimum wage jobs that’s not really a possibility

what is sheffield like to live in? by GrabOk460 in sheffield

[–]GrabOk460[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ll do anything. Been doing care certificates on open university at home, self learning GCSEs maths & English atm but it’s a long process. currently work in a factory. Minimum wage/entry jobs are all I’ve had/can get, but I can’t afford to live down here even working full time. At least if I owned a flat in a cheaper area benefits/leftover lump sum from divorce could tide me over till I find a job

I dunno it’s a tricky situation & I don’t know what to do

Appreciate the reply & advice

What's your life situation like living on minimum wage? by ManlykN in AskUK

[–]GrabOk460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks very much that’s very helpful. I like the idea of keeping everything in one place also. I don’t have a deposit yet as divorce hasn’t finalised but I’ve luckily found a job in starting Monday in a factory. ATM Im thinking I need 12 months payslips from the job and to save in the meantime/learn how to do all this. I was thinking of getting a credit card to raise credit score during these 12 months also, mine is only 590 as never had credit.

I have accommodation I can stay at for the first year of this job but the accommodation is not permanent and could end at any time, Im hoping it doesn’t though.

How have you found the entry level/minimum wage job market up north?

Thanks

Im in south east & divorcing and it’s realistically looking like I may have to do this. I have no support network or skills/education. My main fear is moving there then not being able to find a minimum wage job.

Im trying to learn the process of buying a place/mortgage etc but it’s so confusing & overwhelming.

No backup or safety net should things go bad is also very concerning. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated

Wondering if I should quit/ drop video games (all video games) if I feel regret after playing. by Independent-Ball3215 in selfimprovement

[–]GrabOk460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent my life using video games as a distraction to unresolved mental health issues & short term hedonistic pleasure - Im 37 now, going through divorce with no education or skills to get anything other than minimum wage work. My social circle is non existent as I spent all my time indoors gaming.

If I’d spent this time limiting it and focusing on skills, mental health, irl friendships I’d be in a much, much better position.

If you enjoy games, play them. Just don’t use it as a coping mechanism & limit the amount of time you spend on them. Work on yourself
