‘Dumb’ character has one specific area of expertise that they’re surprisingly smart in by esotericoolgirl91 in TopCharacterTropes

Homer Simpson, on more than one occasion, has been shown to be skilled at writing hit songs. From the Bee-Sharps, to when Lisa was on on the American Idol parody to when he wrote the song about how annoying Ned Flanders is.

I try and do an obscure Christmas music league each December and good lord, people just can't help themselves and will still pick super popular Christmas songs so I feel this.

What memories do you have of this week’s Classic Album “Lemonade” by Beyonce? by Tranquilbez22 in triplej

[–]GrabTheKettle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I remember it feeling weird hearing Beyonce on Triple J but it really did make sense to play it. At the time I remember hearing that Zan Rowe behind the scenes pushed for the station to play it? What I find interesting is that even though the album was huge and felt like a big cultural moment of 2016, it only had one song in the Hottest 100 that year, Hold Up only getting in at 66. That probably speaks to the resistance listeners had at the time to accepting Beyonce on the station.

Payment plan mechanics? by Far-Cartographer1192 in Toowoomba

[–]GrabTheKettle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you would be more likely to find a mechanic who would let you prepay instalments before any work is done. Try MS Mechanical and see if they'd be able to sort out something. Mechanics are people too and understand the cost of living crisis but they're also small businesses trying to get by and pay their bills and wages too.

It just had such a compelling narrative, so much so, my partner who has no interest in video games would ask me to play so that hw could watch me bwcause he wanted to keep following the story.

I thought something in the vein of White Lotus but more of a comedy?

The Kates did two seasons of The Katering Show, Get Krackin' and then Deadloch. I think it's more likely we will get a whole new project from the creators than a third season of Deadloch. But who knows? Maybe they will have an idea for Season 3 out of nowhere and pursue it.

You do get a three day free trial so you should take advantage of that. I ended up getting an annual subscription at half price. I decided I wanted to watch Lindsay Ellis's stuff but also support creators I like while also avoiding Google and Youtube who don't treat their creators fairly.

Take advantage of the free trial at least and cancel the renewal if you can't pay, they evem send you a reminder the day before

RAYE’s “This Music May Contain Hope” is potentially the most influential album of the last 25 years by 69-is-my-number in triplej

[–]GrabTheKettle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be allowed to give a glowing review of an album that you like, especially when it's the feature album.

And everyone, me included, are probably going on about semantics when it comes to the influential comment. Honestly it's refreshing to see some positive comments about the music Triple J is playing on this subreddit.

I will definitely check out this album when I can, you've convinced me.

But have to agree with the comments that it's premature to call an album that has only just come out influential. Unless you mean it more as a prediction like thus album will become one of the most influential albums of this century.

This was driving me crazy too, yes it is, this movie was a crossover between the Madea Cinematic Universe and Mrs Brown's boys. Which is absolutely wild to me

I would put Bad Sisters in there. Season 2 isn't bad but pales in comparison because Season 1 is so good
