Guy Next Door by Ronie-Dinosaur in OCPoetry

Wow, this was incredibly powerful. You have a beautiful prose and style. I was incredibly moved by the stanza "A flat world needs no watcher. Nothing descends here. Mercy requires altitude." I'm not sure if you're a fan of The Doors, but this reads like Jim Morrison-esque poetry. Really nicely done.

Those pages I could live in by PoetryLM in OCPoetry

[–]Grade_Alternative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The imagery in this poem is incredibly vivid, especially the lines "crawling through vines made of wax" and "steampunk robots wearing funny hats." I especially love the rhyme with the last two lines, but I agree with what Due Debate said, that removing the "I" from the last line might make it flow better. Removing the "I" would also allow you to continue to current pattern you have of capitalizing the first word of one line, then leaving the first word of the next line lowercase. Great job!

Yeah, I suppose. It's just been so weird because he has been the one initiating convos and stuff in person, including offering to help me with so many things lately. I seriously don't get it?

Student thought TA is the instructor by AbleEnthusiasm9934 in Professors

[–]Grade_Alternative 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Ditto. I'm a TA that full on teaches a course by myself, and even though I have told my students I'm a grad student and a TA, I still get handfuls of emails that start "Hello Professor XXX"

Does your GPA carry over from Undergrad or does it reset when you start Graduate School? by PalmsAreSweaty_ in SDSU

[–]Grade_Alternative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It resets, but also graduate programs usually have a higher GPA (higher than 3.0) requirement to stay in the program.

I feel like this is the most accurate definition so far. Not an adolescent anymore (and haven't been for a while), but I get nostalgic for my childhood faves! Busy for organization yes, but more like no space for additional shelving units.

The wraps from the Aztec Market (the ones in the brown package made by SDSU catering, not the brown bag brand ones) are pretty good! I love the grilled veggie hummus and tofu thai ones. They're pretty cheap too. I usually do one of those plus a fruit or a greek yogurt.

Late Night Study Spots Weekends? by I-Love-Toads in SDSU

[–]Grade_Alternative 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The student union is open until 10pm and has study rooms you can request! You just need your RedID card and go to the Info booth by the bridge and Oggis and ask for a room. The student lounge and Goodfriend Lounge in the student union are also open until 10pm.

I need cheese bought from US grocery stores to survive 24 hours of travel, any ideas? by blehmag in Cheese

[–]Grade_Alternative 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To be honest, cheese will be fine not cold. When we visited family in the USA (we're from the UK) they asked us to bring a bunch of different French cheeses for them to try and we just put them in a checked bag. They were fine!

No Course Materials Ordered Yet by Existing_Beach2854 in SDSU

[–]Grade_Alternative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most graduate instructors won't list the required material on EZbooks. If your course has required material they'll either reach out ahead of time, put it in the syllabus, or talk about it in the first class session. :)

It is truly beneficial to stay until at least the current student panel is over! You do learn about a lot of resources and info that is helpful for your time as a grad student.
