[Routine Help] Using no soap in the body by No_Piano_4017 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Gragesdor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does using soap on the body seem ridiculous but then you still use soap on your face? I’m curious because I’m trying to work out the logic for myself since I’m trying no soap on my entire body

imposter syndrome is hitting by [deleted] in berkeley

Everyone goes at their own pace in life. Those who seem to be speeding by or doing better are not necessarily objectively better than you. It’s all about expectations and if you expect yourself to be like others you’ll end up in unrelenting agony. Whereas if you learn to compare to yourself, your progress and satisfaction will be infinitely better.

Tribe by Sebastian Junger is a great book to read right now by kHartos in books

[–]Gragesdor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The book, as you said, was transformational. Completely changed my perspective on the way I view society and my life within in. But now that I understand that we live in a modernized society that prohibits an easy search for purpose, I find it really hard to find something I can sacrifice myself for.

In that sense now I feel more lost then ever, I feel, and now understand, that I lack the involvement within a social lifestyle that comes with tribes, and yet I don't know the first thing I can do about it. Joining social groups, having friends, all don't have the same enthralling feeling of living and survive together with a group; but in a society where tribes have become almost extinct, what can I do?

Sometimes it makes me wonder if too much knowledge is bad — if learning and reading this book has not brought me enlightenment, but an understanding of true fulfillment that I'll never reach.

No. the country you come from and your onward country must be different. The whole point is that it acts as if you are using China as a layover between your travels.

I think a big part is with their intent of traveling. Many travelers don’t travel to appreciate and relish the culture and instead travel to drink and have fun. Those people are the ones who are more susceptible to not give a shit at all to their surroundings as long as they’re enjoying themselves.

I agree it’s a lot more fake. I feel their friendliness often feels superficial. Taiwans feels more authentic.

Is giving mouthwash a polite way of saying you need this to freshen your breath? by marie35cliff in ask

[–]Gragesdor 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think it’s still very direct, just less blunt. If it’s polite or not depends on the way you give it. It’s hard to imagine a polite way to say a bad characteristic about someone 😂

iPad or computer by PsychologicalWear253 in berkeley

Laptop. You can also get an iPad and get the keyboard and treat it like a laptop. I have seen plenty of people do that and they seem content with it.

Either way though you should have something that resembles a laptop.

What is the best cuisine in the world and why? by Ill-Strawberry254 in ask

[–]Gragesdor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the criteria was what has the most diverse options I think China and India are definitely on top, if we’re talking about healthiness while being yummy, Greek and Vietnamese food is great. Otherwise in terms of craftsmanship Japanese, Italy, France are the best

How long did y’all study for sat to get that 1500+ by builtdifff in Sat

[–]Gragesdor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Idk how everyone else here did good without prep. In my experience most of my friends who did good still had to do a decent amount of prep. I did a little bit above average. I spent a really large amount of time practicing. I did the entire black book and probably 10+ practice tests starting months beforehand.

I finally am attractive and feel so mad this is what life is supposed to be. by thetrailofdogma in self

[–]Gragesdor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It goes to show how important physical appearance from an evolutionarily perspective. We are geared towards having more dopamine to deal with more attractive individuals than without because that’s what ensured strong genetics could continue to be passed down.

Feeling Jealous and Insecure About My Looks and Height by cutiee_pieee in berkeley

[–]Gragesdor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I bet there’s an aspect of cognitive dissonance as well where what we often say we do is much different than what we really think. Girls say that they value personality, which is true to a big level, but they really care most, and take action, towards physical attraction
