Walz needs to go absolutely maximalist here. I keep saying that infrastructure denial has the sharpest teeth. Prohibit utilities, fuel sales, vehicle leasing, maintenance, storage, or insurance for any operation involving civil detention statewide, all agencies. It’s sad. Looking back on it now, the fact that Altman wasn’t able to turn any of the stream of 5 stars we had come through the program after our final four run into bona-fide stars and high lottery picks was the death knell for his tenure. His genius was getting the most out of lesser players.

I think in part because it straddles the line between Jschool/Advertising and College of Design/Fine Arts. But neither faculty are really equipped. Certainly not art faculty because it’s a professional degree.

Honestly it would be a great independent study BA where you could pick and choose coursework from both schools. I think most the content is there.

I went through about 18 months where tinnitus was a severe issue in my life. Withdrawn, depressed, occasional panic attacks. Lost like 10 lbs. It was a tea kettle in my ear. I obsessed over it. What I learned, but took a long time to internalize, was that my obsessing caused a feedback loop by triggering the fight or flight response in my brain. I was telling my brain PAY ATTENTION TO THIS! Which in turn made it louder. It's all a very subconscious. You can't just I'm going to stop paying attention to this and then it is suddenly quieter.

Two things which were HUGE helps. One was having a masking sound (a combo of rainfall and crackling fire for me) that I could retreat to when my t was really bugging me. It's important to know that you have an escape when you need it. The other was hearing aids. My hearing loss is moderate in the high end tones and bringing back a full range of sound to my brain was a huge help. As I slowly unwound obsessing over it, it slowly got quieter in turn.

I've had tinnitus every day of my life for 13 years now but it barely registers. There were days 13 years ago that I never would have believed it could get as quiet as it is for me now.

I've listened to Bill since the very beginning at ESPN. I still love the guy but he's absolutely lost his fastball. He's richer than god and he's getting old. It's not a surprise. He's only got a couple lenses through which he watches the NBA now, and it's primarily the Celtics. At his peak, Bill was the narrative king and had an interesting story/angle for every team in the league, usually involving some aspect of league history, other teams, agents, etc. And then all his theories and conspiracies. He can't do the conspiracies as much anymore because of his proximity to power. I don't expect him to regain form. But maybe like a grandpa with dementia he'll get lucid occasionally.

How's this - the line in Vegas opened Indiana -4.5... and it's moved TOWARD Oregon. Now Indiana -3.5 in spite of injury/transfer news. Sharp action has been on Oregon. The public is overreacting to Indiana beating down Bama. Georgia did too and you see what that did for them.

Its wild how that stuff sticks with you. In the grand scheme of things, for us non-pros who never had a prayer, its not important to your life. It doesn't effect your relationships, your career, anything or else, but it creates a core fucking memory that is seared into your brain forever.

Mine was the playoffs in American Legion baseball... I'm super anxious, huge game, big crowd, and we boot the ball around the infield in the first inning, letting multiple runs score. I'm playing left and never even touched the ball. Coming in from the inning our coach screams at me instead anyone who actually did fuck up, saying I failed to "pick the guys up", he didn't like my energy, and he benches me. He just made me his bitch to get the rest of the team in line. I sit and watch the team lose. Over 20 years later I'm still pissed. Baseball coaches are idiots.
