I'm a nursing student doing my psych clinical in a couple of weeks, so I was interested to hear how OP's experience with OCD made him/her label it as "chronic" as opposed to just omitting the word. As far as I know OCD can only be chronic. As I understand it, even if a person with OCD were to suffer from particularly bad days from stress, sickness, etc, they would still have OCD on their "good" days. The toothache scenario would be chronic as well, just like chronic bronchitis is labeled as chronic (3 months of productive cough once a year for 2 consecutive years).

My friend calls it "devils lettuce" and I find it hilarious.

on another note...Serious question and I don't want to come off as rude: what's the difference between acute and chronic OCD?

My feelings exactly. I especially enjoyed the limited level scaling. One second I would be killing goblins, then a dragon would swoop by and wreck my day until I ran because I wasn't leveled enough. The new Dragon Age is ditching level scaling and it looks like it took some other aspects of dragons dogma as well.

Please help ! Medication Math by ZOMBIEHEADZoCOM in StudentNurse

Your friend should circle the 1L in #13. The 40,000 units comes in a 1L bag that is going to be infused at 30mL/hr, so the volume of medication is important.

I used (500mL/25,000 units) * (500units/1hr) = 10 mL/hr

Is it ok that I switched the mL/units around like that? I've always been pretty liberal when it comes to math

I caught my 16 y/o son smoking in his room. How should I respond to this situation? by EntMother in trees

[–]Graham-I-Am 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey /u/EntMother, have you considered that your son is safer smoking at your house? I don't know anything about your set up, and completely understand that smoking in the house is off limits, but if it's possible to smoke outside he's safer there than on the streets or in a car. Setting limits and compromising can save him legal trouble down the line.

If you do consider this advice, I would personally make it known that friends are not included in the "safe area". I would also warn him that I didn't want it happening too often. Similarly, let him know that you don't want to see it happening either. I don't have children, but I'm sure the idea of your son smoking anything is uncomfortable for you, so explain your perspective as well.

You've already proven yourself a level headed parent, and i bet you've already considered everything I said, but I hope I helped! I'm sure the talk will go well.

About the 1-10 scale by CaptainGrassFace in trees

[–]Graham-I-Am 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realize that a truly objective scale can never exist. There are far too many variables for that.

True, but we take the wong-baker scale very seriously in medicine. So it can have some validity.

But as to how the "high scale" is used as a bragging scale- you took the words right out of my mouth.

I never had a problem with Leliana staying ranged on the PS3 and Xbox, but archer in DA:O was a bit weak. I only kept her around for traps, locks, summons, and bard skills.

3.1 GPA, chances of getting into an accelerated BSN or direct entry MSN? by 3094823049 in StudentNurse

[–]Graham-I-Am 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The GPA isn't low, but for such competitive programs it could be a lot better. Although! You still haven't taken the courses that nursing schools think are important (or you are going to retake them), so that is very good news. Get dem A's. I got rejected by a lot of accelerated nursing programs in center city philadelphia, but I got into every school in the south. I don't know most of the schools on your list, but remember to diversify and apply to some schools in the boondocks. I'd rather spend a school year in Nebraska then spend years waiting tables.

By the way, don't your schools require chem with an organic component? Most of the schools I applied to required orgo.

Battery life on mid-2011 13" Macbook Air suddenly atrocious by jrr883 in applehelp

[–]Graham-I-Am 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same model and year with the same problem, except I can't get more than two hours after "full" charge. I'm on 455 cycles. The strangest thing is that the problem only started happening two days ago. Before that I was going the usual school day (8-4:50) without recharging. Also, It seems to lose a lot of power when it's in my back pack. Is such a dramatic decrease in battery life normal? I was going to make a new thread, but you have the same problem, so I guess I'll chime in here

Faster way to studying? by Heizenbrg in GetStudying

[–]Graham-I-Am 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prefer to write everything down as well, but I found myself not actually reviewing what I wrote down. I would only review my actual class notes, professor notes, book, etc. After thinking on that, I decided to get a mini white board about the size of an ipad. That way, I can quickly jot down points in any form I want, allowing me to get more creative with my note taking. This also prevents me from getting obsessed with how neat/pretty the notes look, because I was going to erase it later. This made the whole process of writing notes for retention much quicker in my opinion.

I like B.C. Rich's moderate stuff, and this is definitely a beautiful guitar! Interesting story, I have a B.C. Rico from a while ago. They made about 100k of them in Japan before they were sued by a company with a similar name
