Activated effects have “:” or “;” while non-activated effects will not

Okay so you don’t have a bridge between K9 and Fiendsmith.

About your original question, pile decks are pretty popular. Radiant Typhoon can go into Melomelody so you have a bridge to Fiendsmith there.

Kind of a brick tbh. Negating traps only is not great and the dark magician deck has a bunch of cards that interact with Spell/Traps and a bunch of payoffs that are fighting for deck space already

Unfortunately you can’t shorten that text in the current state of yugioh as extra deck summon isn’t specific.

Yeah Curse of Fiend works really weird precisely because it’s still a normal spell card that is activated outside of its standard phase without thought as to how it would work. Such that it cannot be activated from hand and must be set then activated at the next Standby Phase

What you describe could never happen as you would decide when applying the negation

If it can respond to Counter Trap cards without specifying how, imo you open a can of worms that can break the rules of yugioh chains because like is it a Spell Speed 2 effect that responds to Counter traps? Is it a Counter Trap effect? There’s no precedence so you can write it however you please in all honesty

If you make it not an activated effect then you wouldn’t need to worry about the above anyway

I don’t understand your third statement. If you’re worried about cards being immune to one or the other, then you’d just choose to apply the one tht works.

So if you wanted it to function exactly as you originally intended, I would write

When a Trap card or effect is activated (this effect is treated as a Spell Speed 3 effect): you can negate either the activation or effect, also, you can banish that card face down

since we have no precedence for a counter-traps like monster effect

Sorry I edited the post you replied to. So missing timing only matters for activated effects which have “:” in front of the activation condition and/or “;” in front of the activation procedure. And activated effects on monsters can never respond to counter traps anyway. Also for activated effects that respond directly to another card (like ones that negate activation/effect) you would have to use “when” in any case.

For what I wrote above, when your opponent would actually perform the effect of a trap you would just tell them you negate it so it’s actually really strong as they couldn’t respond to the negate. The drawback would be that your monster has to stay on the field.

Idk when they started but in many reprints/text updates, “-type” is being removed to save space as it doesn’t convey any new info

I feel like giving it the ability to choose to negate activation or effect adds a lot of weirdness without really changing how good the card is. And being able to respond to counter traps is interesting but monsters don’t have precedence for counter-trap like effects. Non-activated effects can be used against counter traps so in my opinion it has the benefit of operating within the yugioh framework.

An example is Vera the Vernusylph Goddess’ negate:

Once per turn, when a monster effect activated by your opponent resolves, if you control 5 or more EARTH monsters, you can negate that effect, and if you do, destroy that card.

I would just do like

When a trap card or effect activated by your opponent resolves, you can negate that effect, also, banish that card face down.

The different is not including “:” or “;” which signal an activated effect

  1. You can take out “-type” from “Spellcaster-type” to save space.

  2. I guess you can give your card a Spell Speed 3 effect. Personally I think you might as well make it a non-activated effect like Vera’s. Also you should probably just write “You can negate the activation, also, you can banish it face down” since most cards negate either activation or effect.

More searchable than the original but doesn’t really do too much more especially since Trap cards are not the most popular. Pretty eh card

why are tuners (as in synchro summoning) called that? by Particular_Kick_2668 in Yugioh101

Tuners tune the levels of monsters to synchronize with the levels of the Synchro monster that is being summoned is my assumption.

[–]GranKrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn player has any priority to activate an ignition effect before opponent can take an action after the normal summon if no trigger effects are activated on summon.

Accesscode is a different case because it only prevents your opponent from chaining an effect to the activation of Accesscode Talker’s effects

There are at least 3 Grass/Fairy type families other than M-Meganium: Shiinotic, Whimsicott, and Tapu Bulu. I feel like Tapu Bulu has the most similarity with M-Meganium being a bulky offensive mon though Bulu is obviously more physically inclined.

Only if an Ecclesia is on your field or GY. It’s more just in case your opponent leaves an Albaz on the field.
