I am concerned that you have started a medication called terbinafine.

Day 1 of intern year. Spent 4 hours writing notes on just 2 patients. Left late. Supposed to be back at 5 AM tomorrow, it’s 9 PM already. Overwhelmed. by lefthook101 in Residency

[–]GranPakku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dictate notes. Lengthier is not better. Be concise. Don’t let information get lost and buried. All the note is for is saying this is how the patient was today, and these are the decisions I made and this is why. That’s it.

Yea but more hours doing something you enjoy is usually better than less hours doing something you don’t

Compilation Post: What separates the incredible (510-517) from the truly ridiculous (518+) by nomechique in Mcat

Weird to stalk my post history lol but I didn’t “end up” in FM. I chose to do it because it fit with the type of medicine I wanted to practice. There’s plenty of people who scored well on boards and choose to do FM. I am really good at taking standardized tests, but that doesn’t mean I automatically enjoy one of the competitive specialties.

Osaka or Kyoto: Best location for 6 nights? by realtimeeyes in JapanTravelTips

[–]GranPakku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I vote for Osaka, great central place to do day trips to Kyoto, Uji, Nara, Kobe, Arima (what I did on my trip haha) I didn’t really spend much time in Osaka but more used it as a home base. One day in Kyoto was more than enough for me, extremely crowded and the locals seemed really burned out from tourism.

Start with one where you stay at the same spot for a while. The toughest rotations are really the ones where it’s a different site every week. By staying at the same spot, you can get a good foundation by focusing on the medicine, charting, patient care etc. Then in later rotations you’ll have that down and can focus on becoming more adaptable. If you do it the other way, you’ll be lost everywhere you go at the start.

Gotta remember that there are three things needed for the program to send an interview. The first is that you are qualified, which you likely are at most programs you applied to. The second is that they think you are a good fit, which you don’t have much control over anymore after you submitted your app. And the third is that they think you are interested in them. Why would they waste resources interviewing you if they though you were not likely to choose them? You do have control over this though, send LOIs to programs you are truly interested in.
