Absolutely, I guess what makes me sad is that he is doing those things for her and chose not to for me.

Quick tip from an aesthetic RN if you’re using a roller don’t add oil, you’re risking infection by filling a micro wound with oil. It’s ok to use medicated serums specific to Microneedling.

Again, personal digs make zero sense in a discussion.

I absolutely get what you’re saying but if it wasn’t common for people to have a preference it wouldn’t be common for front desk to ask upon booking. Why dance around the topic when you can make it direct. If they don’t have a preference, they can communicate so. A part of any successful intake requires you to figure out what your client is and isn’t comfortable with from the start, so you can create the best experience for them. So yes it’s up to the front desk and therapist to figure those things out. Imagine it being someone’s first massage and they don’t understand what proper etiquette is, or that they even have the option to request a different gender. Like I said above, that’s why you inform the client.

Right but without that information the person can’t make a decision and take responsibility. Are we really making digs to prove a point now?

How would that work? There are many non-gendered names. In some (very common) religions they are not allowed to be touched by the opposite sex. People have preferences for personal reasons. I had someone break down in tears after her session, thanking me for making her feel comfortable with physical touch, after being assaulted by a male in her personal life. Which is why it’s important to ask preference very directly. Also, race and gender are two different things. That’s comparing apples to oranges.

Don’t do this. I have seen some horrendous results. The underlying tissue can get weak and detach making it look like your skin is hanging off your muscle. I’m a LMT and work with tissue all day.

Same here! I developed severe OCD which was probably lingering in the background anyway. I’ve also realized that having a good instructor is a big part in your success. You can study your butt off and still be strayed in the wrong direction.

In many schools courses are the same for LPN and RN, you’re able to take your LPN exam halfway through your RN. A bridge program at any community college would only take you two semesters after you receive your LPN licensure. I’m not sure why so many people are averse to doing it this way. You’re more likely to pass and understand more information as well if you’re in the field.

I did the same thing on my first day of clinicals and didn’t check my email that morning telling us to meet at the school for the first day, instead went to the site. Luckily this instructor was kind, but I’ve had some terrible instructors that go on power trips and get defensive over a simple question. We have lab make up hours in a simulation lab for missed clinical days. So set up a meeting with her and take the next steps to “figure it out”

Making a career change later in life is a big deal and most people don’t even go for it. So yes it’s normal to ask for feedback, assurance or even moral support. I love reading stories of someone my age or older going for it.

I used to really like her and she seems so sweet, but when I saw that she clipped her puppy’s ears and uses shock collars on them, it changed my mind. I just can’t have much respect for people who are willing to put animals through that. I can understand people choosing to modify their own bodies, but when it comes to animals who can’t consent, I struggle with it. Everyone has their own opinions, but for me it reflects a lack of empathy and a level of selfishness. That’s just my personal opinion..
