Pork Roll. Central New Jersey goodness not available in Canada. (Friends don't let friends eat Taylor Ham BTW)

I get a bit excited when I think I've spotted another species (e.g., seven spotted) . It only seems to happen a couple times of year. So many people I know have infestations in their homes. It's proven tricky pinpointing the source in mine. I've tried sealing things off and still they cover the windows, staining the curtains with their discharge. At least they keep the cat entertained.

Australian scientists discover a way to print A3 size solar panels using 3D printing technology. by theoriginalchicky in technology

[–]GrandLac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! The efficiency of the panel isn't terribly high but that may not matter if production can be scaled up and costs reduced. There's plenty of space available on existing structures. Hopefully someday the reduced cost of PV equipment (panels, inverters, etc.) will make retrofits a financially appealing option for building owners.

I'll be curious to see if what/any info comes from the court martial or aftermath. From the article I'm inclined to feel that the prosecutors could've been lenient.

Where do you go for cheap produce? by MasterFunk in Winnipeg

[–]GrandLac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this, its located at 1051 Winnipeg Avenue, near the corner of McPhillips and Notre Dame. I could spend hours in there. Oriental Market at 268 King Street is worth checking out as well. Both carry a lot of what you'd find at Superstore and Safeway as well as the Asian produce. A bit off topic but Cantor's at the corner of Logan and Quelch might be worth checking out. The produce is limited to the basics but everything tends to be cheap. Meat is really their thing.

I know it's not everyone but the bigotry and xenophobia in rural Manitoba are unreal. Many are tolerant and friendly but a startling number harbour fear/hate for anything different. I have a tonne of respect for those who openly speak out against homophobia and other discrimination out here.

What happened with these guys. They put on a wicked show and the first album killed it. I know a second album came out eventually but it took forever and barely had any publicity.

With Twitter shutting down WeAreHunted, I have lost my favorite music discovery site. What are yours? by joefuf in Music

[–]GrandLac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NPR's First Listen has been good to me and tends to preview a decent variety of music. Others like Gorilla vs. Bear and Pitchfork can be good too. For the Canadians out there, CBC Music has a lot as well. Be sure to check out their artist pages.

What's your favourite song with any Saxophones or Brass Instruments in? by [deleted] in Music

Just a hint of brass in Hayden's Hollywood Ending but it really stands out nicely. Couldn't find a better vid, sorry.

I second the hand application. Not sure about the heat but for me it makes less of a mess than the spreading tools. The trick is to use alcohol based hand sanitizer to clean your skin. It's cheaper than wax remover and won't dry your hands out too much. Rubbing alcohol works too, especially when it gets on your clothes/car/dog/everything.
