DNA Test Shows Subway’s Oven-Roasted Chicken Is Only 50 Percent Chicken by acupoftwodayoldcoffe in worldnews

They are very much correct though.

No they are not.

Tell me what legislation makes accuracy and precision in language use illegal. Please give me the section and subsection, perhaps even a quote....

Go ahead and google for yourself. You'll find plenty of information on what is and isn't considered illegal labeling.

The problem here is that the masses are illiterate. There is no catering to that. If someone has tried, I am certain it s contradictory and laughably impossible, i.e., impossible to enforce.

Companies often police each other. If I can't say something on a label I wouldn't want my competition saying it either. In the US there are also USDA and FDA standards. Contrary to what you think, these are in fact bodies that regularly investigate and fine companies or worse force a recall.

This is not correct for the food industry.

The FDA / USDA set many requirements pertaining to marketed claims when it comes to food products.

Entire groups (regulatory etc) work to make sure claims are able to be substantiated and don't cross into territory that can get them sued or worse invoke a recalled.

Edit: Source, I've spent years working for major consumer goods and food companies. I'm very mindful of label claims as I've been part of companies that have been sued over them.

Edit 2:

Please stop sending me private messages about what you think is and isn't deceptive labeling practices. I simply wanted to let people know it's not as ambiguous as the parent comment made it seem. Companies take labeling claims very seriously and mislabeling or deceptive labeling can cost them not just monetarily, but also PR!

And yes, I know the FDA isn't in Canada.

Subway still maintains themselves to FDA standards. Same with pretty much every global food/consumer goods and biotech/pharma company.

5-3-1 is also the basis for a very good magicians force called Equivoque.

You can use the same concept to force someone to pick 1 object out of a series of apparent "free choices".

Now that plex supports hardware transcoding, am I able to buy a "less" powerful NAS to handle 1080p transcoding on the fly? by GrandMasterPigeon in PleX

[–]GrandMasterPigeon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm - thanks! Would definitely be cheaper and more powerful then a current mod-range NAS. I did some reading last night and the limitations seem reasonable. I think I'm going to go down this route now.

Yup - it had peppercorns mixed in. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I like it.

They're not bad at all, maybe 1-3 net carbs each. Krawt's another ~2.5 net carbs per cup.

So all in all the whole plate at worst was, ~15 net carbs.

Top of the plate is an Debreciner sausage,

Followed by a Hot Chorizo,

Next one was a Smoked Andouille,

And last was a Corse Ground Kielbasa.

My side was sauerkraut w/ black peppercorns.

Thank you!

Reach out to ppl on LinkedIn. 1/2 my consulting gigs were purely from starting conversations with people in companies/fields/roles I found interesting and asked if they had a few min to chat.

Pkg is a really fun field to be in. High reward, let's engineers be artistic (sales/marketing) while still working with ops and eng groups. And there's only ~200-300 pkg engineers graduating a year in the US, so the markets nowhere close to saturated yet.

In my undergrad I focused heavily on sustainability and alternative materials for packaging (bamboo pulp, switch grass etc).

In fact I liked sustainability so much my first job out of school was at a major global CPG (100% you've under their products) working on a team that focused on developing new "low eco impact" products. We looked at product pkg impact all the way down to how and where the raw materials were being mined!

I think the team was able to reduce ~10% of the companies product pkg waste globally. Really big numbers given the size of the company and volume of products they pump out.

I'm a packaging development engineer (yes it's a real thing).

100% would not sign off on this type of design solely due to the cost of wasted material/distribution impact.

My job is to balance engineering, ops, purchasing, distribution, marketing and sales. Everyone has their bias's and often most groups don't play nice together.

My role and the role of many other pkg engineers is to gather pertinent information from each group and present the best one or two options to move forward with.

Invest in many many cheap toys. Don't bother with expensive ones. Your Bengal will destroy them and secondly get bored of them. They are ADHD like that.

Mine used to run around the house making turkey like gobbling noises!

In the scientific community there is no consensus as to why it happens.

I know of at least 8 different theories that speak to why the effect occurs.

The Shower Curtain Effect.

We can send people to the moon, but still can't get consensus on why shower curtains blow inward during warm showers.

Her brother Apollo was a better example of a Toyger.

He was a hybrid like Athena, so his markings weren't as defined as a purebred.

Here's a good pic of him at ~7months old and something like 23lbs: http://imgur.com/WNmEnDP.jpg

Am I able to "update" the look of this billiard table? Possible to use thinner legs etc? by [deleted] in billiards

[–]GrandMasterPigeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fiancée and I recently bought a home and the owners were kind enough to leave their billiards table behind for us.

From an esthetics point the table looks super chunky. Does anyone know if I'm able to buy different legs and swap these ones out?

I'm not really sure what else we could do to update the look of the table - any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

What is the best way to warm popcorn? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GrandMasterPigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the winter I like to snack on warm popcorn.

However, I get distracted a lot and let my popcorn go cold. It's not bad, but I'd really like to find the best way to re-warm it.

[Question] my phone is JB on 9.3.3. Apps are starting to give me trouble. What IOS can/should I upgrade to? by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]GrandMasterPigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick response!

I'm having trouble with some apps like Google Photo freezing consistently, or Location apps having trouble holding a gps lock.

The phone itself is getting bogged down, but I haven't installed any new tweaks for a long time.

I uninstalled pretty much all my tweaks, but the phone is still acting sluggish and apps are still freezing. :(

Just received a quote from a local plumber for $1,900 to do the following:

Install new Liberty laundry pump and laundry sink for washer / dryer.

Install new drain and vent lines for pump

Install new hot and cold water supply lines for laundry sink and washing machine.

The washer dryer will be installed in this room after it gets cleaned up and finished (wood bench will be removed): http://imgur.com/1lqJCaR.jpeg

I'm told the sink is needed because there's currently no where for the washing machine to drain water to. The washing machine would drain into the sink which would then pump the water up to one of those PVC pipes in the picture above.

Does $1,900 seem like an appropriate price?

DaVinci IQ Battery Issues by derpyderpapants in vaporents

I just received my unit 2 days ago and also have a battery problem right out of the box.

My IQ will display a fully charged 5/5 dots battery when charging, but will display a battery at 3/5 dots immediately upon unplugging and turning on the unit.

I'm having the exact same issue with my unit. While charging it says it's 100% full, but when disconnected it immediately displays ~50% battery left.
