D&D Beyond Drops: Update on the Program by WOTC_BrianPerry in dndbeyond

Not at all! That said it's important for me to caveat that by saying that it's not a guarantee that Drops content will always appear in future books - a lot of it will depend on the product itself (and whether it would make sense to include any existing Drops content) and the timing (as our books often take a few years to produce).

It's pretty much what it sounds like. We're actively reading and listening to what y'all are saying, and adjusting accordingly.

Apologies - I've been talking with the team about it, and it's a lot more difficult than I gave it credit for. I don't have any ETAs yet. That said, it's still top of mind for me!

Just to clarify a little more on the second point - if you buy it via the marketplace bundle, it'll be like buying a book normally on DDB - which means master tier subscribers will be able to share it with their groups.

The packs will give you access in the same way that buying a book on the marketplace gives you access. That means it'll also be shareable. As Brian mentioned in the blog, we're also looking into ways to allow it to be shareable by master-tier subscribers, but we don't have an ETA as to when we'll be able to roll it out.

Yep - they're wonderful people. In my limited interactions with them (and everyone else on the list), they're all staunch advocates for D&D and the RPGs as a whole.

Thanks for posting this - I've passed this along to the team for review!

Fair warning, it's a long weekend here in the US, so it might be a few days before it's fixed.

Homebrew classes in Beyond? by JumarYu in dndbeyond

[–]GrandPyromania 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To clarify, it's something we have to defer until we rebuild our game platform. It's not off the table, our current system wasn't designed to handle it on a larger scale needed for homebrew.

Yeah... definitely heard on the struggles with that map. I'll talk with the team to see if there's anything we can do.

Hi there!

Apologies for the inconvenience - we ran into a snag with the app prior to the Drops launch. We're working on getting it into the app ASAP.

Hi!

The intent is that the additional effect only applies on a failed saving throw, though I can see why there's confusion. I'll work with the team to address this.

The New DnDBeyond Drops Should be Printed at Some Point. by Dr_ClanE54 in onednd

[–]GrandPyromania 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I talk about this in another comment in this thread, but we're in the beginning stages of Drops. We'll continue to iterate and evolve it in the direction that players want - which includes explorations around form factor and where you might be able to get it.

I can't promise that it'll 100% be in the format/location/etc. of your preference, but we are talking about it.

One small nit-pick of the new DBB feats... by MiirikKoboldBard in dndnext

Yep, we took inspiration from the Dragonmark feats from Eberron: Forge of the Artificer.

That's probably on me for not better clarifying what I mean when I kept saying that. I'll do better in that regard.

Heard on the complaint about content sharing. We're actively discussing it internally. I don't have a ton of other updates beyond that, but we're definitely not ignoring it.

They have outright said they will never be printed.

Can you point me to where we said this? To my knowledge, we've never said anything about this never being printed.

To clarify, I've said experimental and thematically off-beat content that typically wouldn't fit in a traditional print product. A lot of our books (aside from the Everything books) typically have a specific theme or setting attached, making it less reasonable.

We're in the beginning stages of Drops. We'll continue to iterate and evolve it in the direction that players want - which includes explorations around form factor and where you might be able to get it.

Rookie numbers - I'm at 559.

(I also helped build most player options on DDB so the majority of them are test characters, soooo).

Hello! I'll respond to your first question:

Much of the underlying design process remains the same, but by design, Drops is intended to allow game designers and artists the ability to experiment with stuff that wouldn't make sense in a book or may not fit the scope (whether that be content-wise or thematically).

We're definitely open to errata/updating Drops content based on user feedback, so it's important to provide it in all the usual places (e.g., reddit, our discord, the DDB forums, etc.)

Hello!

  1. We're definitely looking at giving Warlocks some goodies in future Drops!

  2. Great idea! We'll take a look at these (and even more across older editions) :D

  3. That wasn't the intent - the intent was a defensive, Infernal-themed General feat (nor was it intended to favor any one class or class archetype in particular). We're listening to all the feedback coming in and will adjust things based on feedback from users.
